SOTD Monday 8-4-2014 Gillette Old Type Ball End w/Astra SP Proraso SC Becker Travel Scuttle Semogue 1460 Boar Dickinson's Witch Hazel Hotel Moisturizing Lotion Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum ASL Got to do a normally scheduled shave before leaving for Boise this morning. Didn't bring any pre-shave cream with me but a good long soak with the hot towel was exceptionally nice. (I haven't had the time for such luxuries these past few days.) No photo as I don't have anything close to todays shave selection above.
The Black Tip Super Speed is muck like the 40's style, but has a plastic knob. These were produced only two years, 1951 & 1952, and had either an aluminum handle or a steel handle due to brass shortages at the time. (Razor pictured is the 1951 aluminum handle). This razor is fairly mild. I assume the added weight of the steel handle would make a better shave for me. Guess I have to start my search.
White's pretty soft but I haven't really made up my mind about horse in general. I might try a relofted horse tomorrow.

41st Wedding Anniversary Shave Dove Men's Face Wash TABAC Shaving Soap Frank Shaving Finest Badger Gillette Super Speed '47 DORCO Platinum ST300 CWR Thayers Cucumber WH Mennen SB AS The TABAC Shaving Soap face-lathered very easily with my Frank Shaving Finest badger brush. Two passes with my Gillette Super Speed '47 and a DORCO Platinum ST300 gave me a close, comfortable shave. This was shave number 5 with the Dorco, so it has passed the minimalist test for a good blade. After a warm water rinse, alum block, and cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Menthol Monday HOT shower Arko-bowl lathered Omega 10029 1955 Eversharp Schick Hydro-magic Longs Drugs/Personna d5 Aqua Velva Ice Blue What a great line up! So many favs...all came together for a fast and easy DFS of the highest order... AV left me feeling so cool and refreshed....wish I had know about this when I was enduring those hot middle eastern climes and sweating after a close shave....a little Aqua Velva would have been a groove saver....
Been sweating, painting and moving stuff around all day so I'm bushed and decided to go with a neck shave. G-bar with stainless blade, Williams clone soap. Neck feels a lot better. Shaving is also is handy for removing paint splatter. Tried some Floid Blue for the a/s, gotta say the scent hit me as better than when I first tried it out of the last Box. Pretty good stuff, I may have to look into getting more someday. But I feel like I need a hit of menthol before I go to bed.
Sounds like you had a great shave, but strangely enough I don't find the AV all that cooling compared to Skin Bracer!
Uh Oh....a word from the Menthol Master.....looks like I need to check out SB.....BTW...I know theres no M but how do you like Pinauld Clubman Jeff?
My alarm is set at 4AM, so the shave happens tonight. R41 Perma-Sharp Super Semogue OC Boar RR P.160 Alum Superior 70 I am officially done with the RR P.160. I had the worst rash I have had in the last 4 plus years. Something in the soap does not agree with me and I am done trying to enjoy it. I still have a tub of XXX. Hopefully it is the scent that doesn't agree with me and not the soap. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, it was a very close and comfortable shave.
