    Prep: Warm shower, Cetaphil Lotion
Razor: EJ DE89 w/ Weber Classic Handle
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
    Lather: Williams Mug Shaving Soap
    Brush: Oscar11 w/ Omega 20248 Knot
    Post: Witch Hazel, Cetaphil Lotion
    Aftershave: Old Spice

After a couple of rough shaves from my single edge razors I went back to my trusty EJ DE89 and got an incredibly smooth, easy shave. I really need this shave. My face couldn't have taken another bad one. I'll keep working with the SE razors, though, because I know that the problem was my technique; not the razors.

    Have a great day!

    Frey's Day:

Prep: Hot Shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (5, 6)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

My face was sufficiently healed, more than two days after my cat got overly excited, to allow me to shave again, particularly with the relatively mild 41c. The lather worked up easily and well, as expected, and the Bic mowed down several days growth as if it were a mere half-day's. I considered a third pass, but decided against it to avoid irritation. I still got a DFS shave with my face feeling moisturized and smooth.

Prep: Hot Shower-Stirling Cocoa Butter Bath Soap
    Soap: Maggard Limes & Bergamot
    Razor: Gillette Slim [6]

A “Top 5” morning with Maggard Limes & Bergamot. Excellent thick, cushioning lather with a great scent in no time with the Plisson. The Rapira Swede in the Slim is doing just fine. I got an excellent smooth, close, and nick free shave. I finished with Fine Italian Citrus.

Started out a damp, muggy morning so I was looking to get a little refreshment from my shave. Still went with hot water though, just wasn’t feeling a cold water shave today....

    Joe,
I think that the logo engraved on the baseplate is in the center on a short comb and over to one corner on a long comb. Based on your picture, it appears to be a short comb. I prefer my short comb to my long comb.

    FRIDAY
Quick shave this morn with the newer, 'milder' version of the R41. I find this version a bit more forgiving than the older (2011), more aggressive version, but the results are quite comparable: BBS in just a few passes, and in about 1/2 the time it takes me to shave using a straight razor. I do find the straight razor process more rewarding (greater focus and concentration required), but I've no complaints about the Mühles—fine razors!—although I do find the stock handles a wee-bit light and slick. Add a custom handle (such as the one shown created by @AKASL) and its a winner!

    Have a great Friday, gents!

2 passes on the face and 2 passes on the skull this morning. This is a several years old soap I purchased back in the spring. Not much scent, but it lathers quite nicely and provided a good slick cushion. A fresh blade and a little time made for a good shave.
I won't have time for luxurious spoiling shaves over the next couple of weeks. The Colorado State Fair starts this morning and I will be there for the next 10 days with my students. We run the Children's Barnyard, so have already enjoyed several days of fair setup and what not.

    Friday, August 22, 2014
I have settled into a boring, but acceptable, routine of a Merkur HDC paired with a Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless; Proraso Preshave for Sensitive Skin; C. O. Bigelow Cream; witch hazel; and Neutrogena Triple Protect Face Lotion. As I said, boring, but it works.

Yesterday, out of necessity (necessity being one bathroom, two people, and SWMBO's schedule being more important than mine), I had to shower after shaving. I was surprised with a nice shave, no irritation after washing my face again in the shower, and I was even able to use an alcohol-based aftershave after showering without any irritation. I'm going to have to try this a few more times.

    Blade: PAL/ Perma-Sharp
    Brush: Gary's Finest Badger
    Lather: Maggard Razors Fougere Sauvage
    Post: Maggard Razors Alum
    Aftershave: Fine Platinum

So, I went for my first pass on my upper lip today with the PAL blade. It was hell. The tugging was horrid. I said mehhh I'll try my chin. I now know what it would be like to have each hair plucked out. I said to my self "Brent, no, bad." I looked to my left and saw the tech. I snatched it up and finished it my next 2 and a half passed happy and content. The Maggard's was a good lather, but I just wish it was slicker. I like the scent a lot, it seems to have decent cushion, but the slickness just isn't there. I wound up with a BBS shave. What are the base notes you get from Fine Platinum?
