What's the proper way to set an adjustable razor?

I just won a 1973 short handle Black Beauty off the bay. I want to be sure of how to properly set the dial so that I don't break the mechanism. Should the silo doors be fully open or just slightly open? I've read you can break it if you try to set it silos closed.

Some will say it doesn't matter, but I always open the doors about half way to take off the tension.

    But that's me.

I always open the doors part way on my FB. Nice score on that Black Beauty! Was that the one with the case?

:signs011: But. I'll bet when you could get one for $2 folks didn't open the doors.

No the one I won didn't come with a case. It was newly listed last night and I snagged it. It was probably posted for 30 min at best lol.

If you get it for $2 it most likely will not have any doors.

I think you missed when they were $2. Meaning new, in the 60-70's. :angry032:

I haven't used a TTO or Adjustable for a while now and once I found a setting I liked I would leave them alone, but I'd always open the TTO doors a bit on my Adjustables when changing the setting...:)
