Sweet looking razor for being over 150 years old and in original condition. I have yet to find a decent straight in any antique store here in Boise. Great find!
Razor: GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf Blade: GEM Brush: Muhle Black Fiber synthetic Lather: Dr. Dittmar 1st day at the new university. I needed a quick prep-less shave so I went with Dr. Dittmar for maximum instant beard softening. I ended up with an unexpected 2-pass BBS.
Dove Men's Face Wash Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap Burma Shave Boar GEM G-bar CVS Stainless CWR Thayers Rose Petal WH Mennen Skin Bracer AS The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered very easily with my Burma Shave Boar brush. Two passes with my GEM G-bar and a CVS Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Thanks, I really look forward when this brush comes up in my rotation. Chilled Salsa is a custom blend that Amanda made up for me five months ago. I gave her the essential oils I wanted in the soap and she took it from there. After she came out with Citrus Mint Blast 3 months ago I looked at the ingredients of this soap and Land Locked and basically my custom blend is pretty much combining these two wonderful soaps and adding additional menthol crystals. Tiki is my favorite Artisian soap at the moment.
Whoever designed the bottle openings for AV needs to be slapped repeatedly. It's so annoying when applying that stuff.
TUESDAY Evening shave for Tomorrow Early day at the office in the AM, so tonight is shave night! I got a chance to use this newly restored & honed Wostenholm IXL. 50 laps on linen; 100 on leather prior to shave. This razor took a very keen edge and it paid off in a very close yet comfortable 3-pass shave… Pre: Homemade PS cream Razor: Wostenholm & Son IXL 5/8, restored Brush: Semogue 830 Lather: L'Occitane Cade soap Shave: 3-passes, minor touch-up Post: Institut Karite post-shave balm Have a great Tuesday, everyone!
Evening Shave - Rebelling Against Menthol Mondays Pre: Hot Water Razor: Merkur 23c Blade: I forget. It was sharp though Brush: VDH Boar Cream: Proraso Blue After: Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum It's been a while since I used the Bay Rum. I like it, but tonight it seemed extra clovey and it kept biting like a sack full of rabid squirrels. Not that that's a bad thing. It's not.
Tuesday Morning Shave Razor: Gillette Super Speed Blade: ASCO (1) Brush: Isana Men Pure Badger Soap: ARKO with 3 drops of Eucalyptus,Bergamot and Mint oils. AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush First time with '62 super speed. It did a great job by giving a BBS all over. ASCO blades fit all my Gillette safety razors very well in every way. I have nice, comfy and affordable shaves.
Tabac Tuesday - First day of school My students begin a new school year today, and I got a superb shave in every way. Ready to start the school year! Prep: RR/HTGAM lime menthol Soap: Tabac! Brush: HIS lather monster Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101 Blade: Personna lab blue AS: Synergy Bay Rum Tonic
Tuesday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Rapira day 2 Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS Anherb AS Conditioner Osage Rub AS Dolce & Gabbana EdT I doubt that the Synergy Frost_byte soap I'll be receiving is as frigid as my Glacial Obsidian which I used today - this stuff feels almost painful, but in such a delightful way. It lathered beautifully and gave me fantastic blade glide as well as great skincare. The Anherb conditioner and the Rubby Dubby Doo were an awesome finale to this shave which was super-BBS.

First shave with a Single Edge blade today. Went well. No nicks or cuts or irritation and a nice shave. Need to work with this razor a bit to try and find the correct angle. It is fun to learn a new skill set and using a Single Edge feels totally different than using a Double edge. I went with Proraso as I wanted some good protection and slickness and for that Proraso seems to be one of my most reliable soaps, never had a bad shave when using Proraso. looking forward to using the Se razor again tomorrow.
Shave of the day Pre- Hot shower and ARKO + Homemade preshave oil Soap/cream- Craftsman shaving soap unscented Brush- Omega boar 10810 Razor- Gem Micromatic Open comb Blade- Gem stainless steel(3) Post- Cold water rinse, alum block, Old Spice whitewater and Nivea aftershave balm 3 pass shave with some touch up. 2 passes WTG and 1 XTG. I got a pretty close shave with some burning sensation on the mustache area. The alum block also indicated that I have to use even less pressure and the alcohol from Old spice AS concurs haha The soap was easy to lather and had nice glide. I don't know if an unscented soap will ever be a favorite because I like when a soap smells nice. I Tried something in the prep. I ran an Arko bar over my face and lathered with just my hands and let it sit while I showered. It felt like my beard was softened. But I talked on the phone for 15 minutes with my mother before i shaved so maybe the "effect" wore of. I'm gonna try it again next time =) I hand strop(yes I do that) my stainless steel blades for this SE, just to see what they can do and also to maximize the use. I don't know if it helps, some say yes some say no. I have coarse beard and I figure it can't hurt

Prep: hot shower Razor: Aristocrat TTO Open Comb Blade: Bolzano Brush: Vie-Long Soap: Proraso Green Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG) Post: cold rinse You know those days when nothing goes right? Well today is definitely not starting out like that! GREAT shave today from the Aristocrat and Bolzano. Two pass BBS, zero irritation, does not get much better then that. The Proraso lathered like the champ it is and I probably could have made another three more passes.
