Episode V - The Japanese Empire Strikes Back
I've never been too found of the Japanese Feather blade. It shaves just fine and I have really nothing to complain about. But, and this is just placebo talking, I find them rather boring. I do not know quite how to explain it, but I have very little interest in shaving with these blades.
Yesterday I got a small batch of Kai blades. This is another Japanese blade, and is often compared to the Feather blade, and rightly so. But these are still a lot more interesting to shave with. Granted, I have only used it once, but I still found myself fascinated with it. They where very sharp, and somewhat smooth, and they cut through my beard like hot butter, but in the same way felt like it did not. Not sure how to explain this properly either, but that's what made it so fascinating.
I look forward to using this blade again.
The soap from Portland General Store smells wonderful of fake whiskey, and it performs great too. I really need to use this more often, but sadly I can only shave once a day. I ought to get the matching aftershave, but its difficult to get in my part of the world. Maybe next year
Ogallala Bay Rum is the best Bay Rum in the known galaxy. Where normal bay rums are lacking in zest and panache, Ogallala has both in abundance. I do not detect a hint of christmas or any other holyday in the scent, but I guess that might be a cultural thing.
When my samples of Ogallala Bay Rum runs dry, it is safe to say that I will stock up with full sized bottles.
But the best part of this aftershave is not the scent, but the delicious burn. No sting, just a wonderful and delightful burn that really wakes up my face in the morning. I love it.
