Getting Ready to Go Back Home

I am almost ready to go back home and, like every genuine gentleman should do before starting a new journey, I of course shaved with a straight razor and now I am almost ready to travel back home. There I have all of my Mastro Livi straight razors waiting for me and I admit I miss them quite a lot. The razor I brought with me this time is good but not so good, let's say it is an acceptable shaver. That's why I miss so much shaving with a Mastro Livi razor while enjoying its velvety and smooth touch.

  5. Tyr's Day:
Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub Cleanser, TSD Jasmine Sambac Preshave balm
    Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger
Soap: Ginger's Garden Grapefruit Mint glycerin
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC
    Blade: Asco Red SS (3)
    Passes: WTG, XTG (7, 8)
Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma Alum, Dickinson's WH, Aveeno Active Naturals ASB
    Cologne: Burberry Brit by Burberry

It's a little tricky, sometimes, switching between soaps, as different products need different amounts of water to function; for me, the Ginger's Garden soaps aren't nearly as thirsty as the Stirling I used yesterday. With an early class this AM, I wasn't planning on three passes in any event, but the Asco made certain of that, as it was starting to drag before I'd finished the second pass. I suppose you'd call the results a DFS, but there's a spot on my chin that I probably should have gone over more thoroughly. The Aveeno was my nod to the classroom's crowded conditions as much as any need to soothe my face with it.
  6. Tuesday

    Prep: wash with CeraVe cleanser
    Soap: Mike's Natural, unscented
    Brush: Whipped Dog synthetic
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blade: Personna med prep
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

    Smooth, comfortable shave.

  7. Razor: Schick Type I
    Blade: Personna
    Brush: Muhle Silvertip Fiber
    Lather: Scottish Fine Soap

First use with the Scottish Fine Soap. This is a palm based soap. It is similar to MWF in smell. It is a good performer and almost indistinguishable from a tallow soap. The bad- the lather was really airy and took a while to get right. I'm going to experiment some more with some different water ratios. The Silvertip Fiber is quite a bit softer than the Black Fiber- and much denser.
  8. Prep: Stirling Lemon Chill Bath Soap
Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable U2 (7)(5)
    Blade: Personna Red (2)
    Brush: Gary's Finest Badger
    Larger
    Lather: Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill
    Post: Maggard Razors Alum
    Aftershave: Fine Platinum

2 pass DFS. How long do these Stirling samples last?! I still have Ozark Mountain to tear into but this lemon chill last forever.

    Cream: TOBS grapefruit
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Jack Black gel, Old Spice Lime (Shulton)
    image.jpg

My Gillette Tech is a very mild razor even with a Feather. I do need to take care not to go over a spot to many times because it's so smooth, as I will pay with a burn later. The Erskine brush is still a nice surprise. It's the original Badger knot and is very soft. I got it NOS in the original box. It lathered the TOBS grapefruit in a blink, and I love the scent. Only needed 2 passes WTG XTG on my face WTG ATG on my neck. Not to much preasure is my key to this light weight. Much different than the heavy heads of my adjustables, that need no preasure at all. Thayers Cucumber WH felt real good, and after a clean up, the Jack Black was welcomed as I could feel a little burn. Some Old Spice Lime (Shulton) the original burned some but felt good. I need to start using the "new" version of this great scent. Smooth with some burn, I'll take it. Have a good day, y'all!

An old pic for a new stellar shave. I hadn't shaved for a while and today 10 days of growth were smoothly removed in a 2 pass (1wtg and 1xtg) shave...don't know why but it left me feeling quite good and positive about my self :D

Early start to the day so my shave was good but hurried and I'm posting late. Had an out of town meeting that took me past a second-hand store I'd never visited and I came home with a $2 Slim that is bound up and covered in grunge so I've got it soaking. They also had a few straights but nothing worth picking up for the prices they wanted.
