Thursday 09/25/14 Prep: Gaia face scrub Oil: Shave Secret Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery Razor: Gillette new open comb (long) Blade: Ladas soap: Le Pere Lucien Post: alum sprayed on Witch Hazel: Generic unscented I used the Le Pere Lucien for the second time today. I chose to bowl lather, which was a mistake. I did not make a good lather, having too little product on the brush. The lather was thin and watery. I did, however, get a very slick shave. No cushioning, but very slick. Tomorrow I will try again and see what I come up with. On a side note, I have also stopped using an aftershave balm. The products I have been using lately have such good moisturizing abilities that I don't feel it is necessary to use one anymore.
THURzDAY After a long, hectic day yesterday, I rewarded myself with a quiet and leisurely morning shave. This restored Faultless has turned out to be a very comfy shaver. I was dubious about its prospects as the blade had some bad hone wear, but it still takes a nice, smooth edge. A little MWF to create a super-slick glide = a very pleasurable morning shave! Have a blessed Thursday, everyone!

Throwback to a new classic Today I decided to use WSP barbershop, destined to be a classic in its own right. Shavers who have used both say this soap is similar to MdC in performance. I just know it's great. Easy to lather with top ten protection and post shave feel. I used the GSB blade again today with worse results than yesterday. I may have a dud on my hands. Either way, I got weepers on my cheeks again on the first pass. Tomorrow I'm using a Gillette 7 o'clock SE yellow, a blade I've had lots of success with in the past. I finished with Aqua Velva Ice Blue Sport, later adding Ginger's Garden Suede, which I traded for recently. The GG goes on kind of oily and sweet, but dries down to a pleasant leathery scent and makes my skin feel soft and protected.
Razor: Every-Ready 1924 Blade: Gem PTFE SS (D8) Brush: Omega 11126 boar Bowl: Doug Smith 5" Shaving Mug Pre Shave Soap: MRGLO Lime Pre Shave Oil: Homemade Cedar-Lavender Shave Soap: Pre de Provence (thanks Mark) Post: Monster Alum Block Aftershave: HTGAM Meta Nectar Three days ago I used Provence Sante and today Pre de Provence, two well known French soaps and both have a pleasant scent and lathered easily, but I did not obtain the post shave moisturizing from these soaps that I get from the soaps in my normal rotation and both of these required a 3rd pass with touch-up when a two pass is the norm for me. Think I will combine these two with L'occitane Cade to make up a French Mix like I see markjnewcomb uses and give it a go. Tomorrow back to Tiki Soap for a day.
9/25/2014 Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: Stahly Live Blade type black and chrome, John Jay Velvet Shaver straight razor Blade: Astra SP (5) Brush: Silver Tip Badger 23 mm knot from Ace Shaving Soap: Tabac After: Home made ASB, Tabac after shave Cologne: Tabac Eau De Cologne Tabac Day!! I decided to make this week the Stahly Live Blade week. I believe that today's razor is a knock off of a Stahly Live Blade. The top plate is not a Stahly. The bottom plate is not a Stahly. The handle looks like a Stahly, but it is a little lighter and does not have the stamp on the bottom. The blade gap is larger than a Stahly. Thus, it is slightly more efficient. With all of that said, the razor is a decent shaver that gave me just about a BBS shave this morning. The Tabac products never let me down and my face feels great. Have a blessed day!!

Good evening. I've had two shaves since my last report. The first was identical to my last reported shave, and it confirmed that the L'Occitane Cade soap, the EJ de89 and the Super Iridium blade is a fantastic combination. Even though the blade is a tad on the rougher side of smooth, if that makes any sense The Semogue 1305 also performed admirably. I have voiced my discontent with this brush on more than one occasion, but after these last few shaves I owed it an apologize. Todays shave was very similar. I just changed the soap with the "locally" produced Brutally Good Shaving soap. The lather was just as good as the Cade soap, but the blade could have been more careful. No harm done, but this being its third shave it was easy to tell that it was well beyond its peak. The splash of captains choice confirmed this with a slight sting. Good Night Gentlemen
Thursday's shave. A very quick shave today. Just two passes, WTG and ATG but turned out really well. Razor - Superspeed Blade - Wilkinson Sword Lather - Tabac Brush - Semogue Aftershave - Nivea Sensitive balm.
Prep: Stirling Lemon Chill Razor: Gillette Sheraton Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (2) Brush: Gary's Finest Badger Lather: Stirling Ozark Mountain Post: Maggard Razors Alum Aftershave: Fine Platinum It was a great 3 pass shave. It was my first time using the Ozark Mountain. Ozark Mountain smells amazing! It was one of the most calming outdoors smelling scent I've smelled. It's a little in the stronger scent side, but it's a scent I certainly wouldn't mind using every single day.
I had the same problem. Proraso Green is horrible for my skin. I wouldn't rule out all menthol products though. There are some great menthol creams, soaps, and aftershaves out there. Too bad about the Proraso Green which is the same as C.O. Bigelow.
