Menthol Monday Last Shave for a While Today is going to be my last shave for probably the next 5-7 days, depending on how my post-surgery rehab goes. I figured I'd use my favorite smooth-shaving blade for the finalé so I grabbed the Goldedge to do the job. Super-smooth shave with the refreshingly-cold tingle of menthol through out. Have a blessed Monday, all! Pre: homemade pre-shave cream Razor: Dubl Duck Goldedge Brush: Omega 48 boar Lather: Stirling Glacial Obsidian Super-Mentol Anise-scented soap Shave: 3 passes + touch up Post: Fine 'Snake Bite' menthol aftershave
Schick I1 Personna Muhle STFV2 Pre de Provence My first time in a long while using this "horrible" soap. I traded some DE blades I had received as freebies for this. I didn't have much to lose obviously. I actually had quite a good shave with it. No where near as good as Provence Sante though. Perhaps it performed so bad because of the terrible brush I used to use-the Semogue 830.
"Don't blame the tool, blame the carpenter!" I, too, have had my struggles with certain soaps (Stirling, for example), but after seeing that so many TSD members seem to have no problems using it and absolutely love the product, I have to wonder if it IS the soap that is the problem, or my own technique in using it. Maybe a bit of both…
29.09.2014 I received my Blueness Shave Stick from Turkey a few days ago, and since this is the new version of Camelot I had high hopes for this stick. If you have read a few of my posts before you might have realised that I have a slight obsession with the Camelot stick. And since Camelot has been discontinued, I was really hoping that Blueness was the same stick in a different wrapper. At first look, sniff and glance it looked promising. The scent was similar and the consistency of the stick was also similar. After the normal prep I started to lather up my face and it looked like a very fine lather, and the first pass went really well. I had a three or four day beard, but the blade did not seem to notice. The second pass on the other hand was not so pleasant. It started with a slight tingling and developed into a very irritating burning sensation. I finished my last two passes in record time, and put out the fire with some Witch Hazel from Mr Dickinson and a layer of Shea Buttered lotion from Fitjar. The Muhle black fibre is an excellent brush. It has a bit of scritch, but nothing uncomfortable. It lathered the MWF like a dream! (To me, if a brush can't lather MWF, it isn't worth having) today's shave was great! Much netter than the last two.
What is the red thing the brush is in? It looks cool just can't make out what it is. Nice gear you have

Razor: Merkur 34c HD Brush: WD Silvertip 30/45 Mug: Old Spice (late glass Mug 04 1970s - 1992) The last OS Mug Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street - coconut Blade: Feather (1) Pre shave: Tree Hut Shea body wash Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Neutrogena Balm, Pinaud Clubman NO Menthol for me. I need to feel my face when I shave. The Merkur 34c HD was my first razor back in May and it shaves very well. It does give be some burn if I use to much pressure or go over an area to many times. You can get away with doing that because this razor is so mild for me even with a fresh Feather in it. I'm starting to use a pre shave Shea soap because of the drier weather, to help keep my skin slick. The TOBS whipped up a thick lather and I screwed in the Feather, and checked the alignment and was good to go for my first pass WTG. A little rinse to see how we are doing and relather for a XTG pass on my face and ATG on my neck. Some more lather for touch up on my neck and we are done. Warm water rinse and pat dry. Some WH and after cleanup some Neutrogena Balm then some Clubman. Nice smooth shave. Have a good one.
Thank you all, it's a glass bowl, it keeps the lather warm (it fits inside a plastic bowl, filled with hot water). Was made by a local artisan. It has a little handle for hanging a kamisori and a space for resting the brush.

I never go too many days without ahaving, for 2 reasons 1. I enjoy sharing every day 2. I used to be a cartridge user, shaving off a few days growth with one of those was a horrible and painful experience. But today I have been too busy to shave the last few days but wanted to look smart for Wifeys birthday today. The Gillette 'New' ploughed through the stubble, a lovely BBS. Menthol Monday Today I used a Wardonia Razor. The Gillette blade I used had to be modified to fit the three hole cap and base. Installing the blade took a bit of work to get the blade to sit evenly when tightening the razor. The cutting angle is a lot different than any of my other double edge razors. The angle is closer to 90 degrees. The shave was a really close, and I did achieve BBS with my normal 4 pass shave. Going across the grain on my neck was a bit of a challenge, with the cutting angle that needed to be used. All in all I was very pleased with the performance of the razor. I am not sure if I will keep this razor in rotation due to the extra work needed to modify blades to fit the razor.
