It's technique driven. And don't make yourself uncomfortable. I find WTG, then XTG yields dfs or better...ATG is not absolutely necessary to look and feel great.
Since I first wrote this I received my Gillette Tech Fat handle. I put a Polsilver super iridium in it. I also started using Duke Cannon shave creme with shave secret oil for a preshave. I can honestly say there is no irritation going ATG and I am getting the closest shave I have ever had.
Glad you are doing well & enjoying your shaves. Just in case no one else has said it (or even if they have), I am going to suggest you get a sampler pack of different blade brands. There is no objective best; it's specific to the user.
Welcome to TSD! Plenty of good advice given already by helpful folks. I'd simply put ATG on hold for a while. Coffee and…..Coffee-mate!
Scary, huh? When I first started drinking coffee (late in life…24 in 1984), my office had only packets of Coffee-mate™ to 'whiten' the dreadfully bitter coffee available there. This fact is probably why I've learned to drink and truly enjoy black coffee nowadays….
Welcome! You have a great avatar! It took me awhile to shave ATG on my neck without getting a lot of irritation. You are already getting some great advice from the folks here. Enjoy!
Welcome I'm new as we'll been wet shaving since July. Lot of nice guys on the forum with really good advice. I also found Manic59 and geofatboy YouTube videos helpful as we'll. I've been able to get a irritation free ATG pass except for my lower neck so I don't try there.
