This was an experimental shave. This is the first time I've ever used Myrsol Emulsion for a shave. That means no brush, no cream or soap.
I did my Prep as usual, but didn't wet my brush. I didn't need to for this shave. I then put a generous amount of Emulsion on the palm of my hand and then started rubbing it into my stubble and vigorously rubbing against the grain. I then wet my razor and started shaving.
The initial feel was weird because even though this stuff is really slick, there was no cushion. I'm not used to that. It started to feel better as I got used to the feel. I got as much stubble as I could in the first pass and then rinsed off and put more on. I went against the grain and then rinsed off. I used my alum block to see how good of a shave it was and how irritated my skin was.
Surprisingly, there was no burn. There was a weeper on my upper lip, but that was due to inattentiveness.
Results: a BBS shave with pretty good skincare. This is how Miquel, the founder of Myrsol has been shaving for decades. Emulsion, no cream or soap.
While it was a fun experiment, I won't be making this a regular habit. It took way too much product to get the comfort I wanted and I missed the cushion from soaps, creams, and my brush. But I know I can shave like this if I have serious time constraints.
