    10/6/2014 Open Comb October

Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO
Razor: Valet Autostrop, French Fau Frame Back straight razor
Blade: Modified GEM PTFE coated SE blade (5)
    Brush: Turkish #6
    Soap: Arko Men Ice Mint
After: Home made ASB, Barbon after shave

A good 2 pass Darn Fine Shave. The #6 whipped the Arko to a yogurt like consistency. The Arko whipped up so easily that I was almost scared to use it. But It worked perfectly. The Valet and the Frenchie did their work admirably. The Barbon brought the chill this morning.

    Have a blessed day!

    Razor: Gillette Slim (k3) 1965 (5)
    Brush: Fuller Amber Badger 1920s - 1940s
    Mug: OS Cobalt Blue 1985
    Cream: The Gentlemen unscented
    Blade: Feather (2)
Pre shave: Tree Hut Shea body wash Mango
    image.jpg

Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black balm, OS vintage Shulton Lime
First time using the Fuller Badger brush. It is a lot like my vintage Erskine, which I also got unused in the original box, soft tips I guess just because of age. Whipped up The Gentlemen unscented with no problem in less than a minute. Good cushion from The Gentlemen and you can't beat the price. Thanks J_Man! I really like the slim. The heavy handle and head gave me a nice smooth shave with no pressure. The Shea Mango for the pre-shave helped give me a nice no burn shave. Have a good one!

Prep: Hot shower. Neutrogena face wash. Noxzema.

    Brush: Omega 266.

    Lather: Williams Mug Shaving Soap.

    Razor: Gillette 1940's Super Speed.

    Blade: Astra.

Post: Cold water; Razorock Alum Block; Witch Hazel.

    After: TSD Blue Spruce Aftershave.

What a pleasant surprise this razor was! I fully expected it to be similar to the '57 Flare Tip I've used, but in fact it seemed both milder (though not as mild as a Schick Krona) and a closer shave than the Flare Tip has been. Felt solid in my hand, and BBS with just two passes. Did run into a little weeper/nick on the back of my head (a known problem area for me) but otherwise a great shave. I was thinking about selling this one, but now I think it has bumped my Flare Tip out of the rotation. It's a keeper! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1412618873.713508.jpg

I like it, menthol is there but not overpowering, have to work it a little to lather, but it will lather.
it's a good soap, not great, but good.

I'm going on my assumption that Nomad qualifies as vintage because it's no longer sold as such.

    Dove Men's Face Wash
    TOBS Lavender Shaving Cream
    Semogue 1305 Boar Brush
    Gillette Old Type
    Shark Super Chrome (1)
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Mennen Skin Bracer AS

The TOBS Shaving Cream face-lathered very easily with my Semogue 1305 Boar Brush. Two passes with my Gillette Old Type and a new Shark Super Chrome blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Mennen Skin Bracer after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I'm sure I'm not the only person who has sold a razor and later wanted to get it back. I sold my Weber PH for a discounted price back in June. I purchased a new one last week for the same discounted price. It arrived yesterday. It is not a Gillette New and I don't need another open comb shave but I appreciate how smooth it shaves and the quality craftsmanship of this USA made razor. Now I have 2 razors and could not be happier.

Prep: warm wash with Stirling Naked & Smooth
    Lather: IanS Soaps (etsy) lavender
    Brush: Vie-Long 13061M horsehair
    Razor: Weber PH
    Blade: Wilkinson Sword (1)
Post: cool rinse and Ogallala Bay Rum

Even though the Weber isn't quite as efficient as my New SC, it did a fantastic job. 3 passes on my face and 2 passes on my scalp were used to get a DFS. Ogallala finished it off in fine fashion and I look and smell ready for the day.

    20141007_063705-1.jpg today's shave
hot water wash with nivea men's
    Parker pure badger
    Cella
    1917 Gillette single ring
    persona lab(1)
    Barbasol brisk
today's shave went great. nice prep, took my time making lather. Parker brush always makes me feel like a total big shot. the weight of the handle and the big bulb of soft hairs, always makes me think luxury. today I used a new to me razor, the Gillette single ring. three passes and touch up left me smooth and clean. I like it. finished with brisk.
Hope y'all did as well, or better.
