Good luck in your search Marine! I looked a long time before finding mine and when I did I just bit the bullet and paid the price
'Interesting' if your idea of enjoyment is doing multiple attempts at properly setting a bevel! This one was a stinker! But I did learn a few things...
5/8 Bema Ian's Shaving Soap homemade boar Decent shave this morning, should have been better. I'll do a little tweaking on the blade tonight. Have a good one.
I hope it is an official authentic issue, that's what I was told when I bought it. I have seen two variances, one variance like this razor and another with USMC etched on the blade?
Revisor 8/8 - I love this razor but it has never been a super great shaver. I re honed it and it still was not great. My friend who is a honemeister honed it and told me the blade edge was uneven and he still was not satisfied but to try it. I did and it was better but not great so I honed it again and it seemed better but not up to my expectations. Yesterday I got my new led micro scope and led Loupe and looked at the edge. It was not even close to right so I went to work with the 4k. I did 40 circles and 40 X strokes and it looked much better but still not right so I did 40 more of each. As I was approaching the last 40 circles I could feel the blade was gliding over the stone ever so smoothly and getting better and better. Under the scope it looked awesome so I proceeded to the 8K and onto the 12k and shaved today. Bingo- I now have a Revisor that has the edge I was looking for. ( not as good as Glen or some of you pros but is the best I have done so far) Thx to Kevin for pointing me to the Microscope and Loupe. I would have never saw what I did without them
men·tor ˈmenˌtôr,/noun 1. an experienced and trusted adviser I'm happy to share with others the stuff I learn and have found useful, but I'm wary of mentoring anyone as we can all learn from each other here. No one has all the answers, but we can, at the very least, parcel out our experiences for the benefit of others.
5/8 Boker Good as Gold half hollow. Another excellent shave. The Valobra's a great lather too, and all veg I think as well, if that matters to anyone. Have a good 'un folks.
