This slope is slippery...but it's also where the real fun begins! Enjoy the journey!

The shave readiness of the edge and your technique have a lot to do with it as well. There is also the factor that we all have different faces, and slightly different requirements.

Straight razor shaving is fun when especially when shaving with a 100+ yr old blade I only have 15+ SR shaves with half as many cuts all on my right side of my face but the feel I get when I do it right with a small amount of DE clean-up is a smooth happy face is it worth all the cuts....yup.

SR shaving is indeed a different beast w/in wetshaving.
I'll be shaving off my weekend growth tomorrow with one and since I'm a complete n00b at it I give myself a good 30 mins for the whole process. It's a bit of a commitment but I really am enjoying the journey.

30 minutes now; with intense and cautious concentration.
Soon you'll be done in less than 20, with no cuts nor blood; and it'll all go so incredibly smooth and precise, you'll wonder why it was so difficult when you started? ;)
Every straight shaver has had similar experiences along the learning path...

Well put Kevin totally different feel ...shaving with a straight is a comfort that every man should experience at least once.

Kevin do you see yourself ever going back to DE shaving as your norm?
