Greeting, I have both, but my FH Tech is boxed and sealed, and waiting for an upcoming Newbie Give-Away. So my question. Are the heads of the FH and Ball End Tech's identical? If you can answer this I'd really appreciate it. Kerry
In my experience they are interchangeable, but not identical. Unless you are only asking about the geometry of the head, then I'd have to say they are the same.
My ball end is a 1966, has tabs on the corners, the reason I ask, I hated the way the FH shaved, tomorrow I'm going to use the Ball End, from memory it felt and looked different (head)
My FH is a "pre war", and the ball end is '51. I find the shave to be pretty similar between the two razors
Even though Gillette was tweaking the heads of the Techs from 1938 on until the late 1960s for the U.S. and Canadian markets, I really could never tell the difference between the heads in use. The British versions I can tell a slight difference but not much of a difference. I guess that Techs are the most uniform of the Gillette razor heads in my viewpoint if you switch them on the same handle. Now pairing tech heads with different handles is where I can tell a difference.
My 1966 has Marca stamped on the right corner of the bottom plate. Ok, so I'll use it tomorrow and I'll have a better idea, I never liked the FH, hope I like this razor. Thanks guys! Kerry
I have a Tech no date code that looks like the one on the right. It shaves great with a Feather blade but I have to watch the angle.
