I use to make this stuff up and just put in the corner of the shop and the wife, daughter and relatives just took what they wanted. Once I made it I was no longer interested in it.
5/8 J.S. Holler Seifneglatt homemade badger Good shave this morning, nice shaving old razor that takes a fine edge. Have a good one.
Is this a straight razor? Please post a photo. I've never heard of the Volga, but I know nothing about Russian straights.
It's got a coating of mineral oil on it in this pic. I'm seeing quite a few Russian razors from the '50s and '60s with these same orange marble scales. This thing is a smoo000th shaver.
Joseph Allen & Sons Non XLL 6/8 Custom maple wood scales. Came off the hones like a dream. I might be a new quarter hollow convert. Smooth Sheffield shaver.
these are two of many, I have German, Usa and Sheffield , I love the sheffields most, get the best shave and best feel from them, honing is a snap on most, now back to the Damascus frameback and see if I can finish up the bevel.also many thanks for the comments, I redid the scales with a soak in neatsfoot oil and good sanding then another soak in the oil. looks much better now
