I wouldn't call the C.O.B. really cold, but it's my main frame of reference. The Palmolive was like C.O.B. with 2 drops of M-Bomb.

As promised to Yongunn and Darkbulb!

I knew this was going to be a rough shave. The blade needs some attention from a hone. Gave the razor/blade about 30 passes on the strop beforehand. To no avail. For the first pass I dialed the blade at its 'smoothest' (the least blade exposure). Second pass half exposed. Third and fourth pass at full exposure. (I had lots of lather and just automatically lathered up completely after the third pass). Four rough passes and still nothing more than a half decent shave... Nevermind, it's still a fun razor to use! :)

I'll swap the original blade with a modified SE blade. See where we'll end up then. :)

Sorry to hear that it wasn't the best of shaving experiences...but I think it may be more due to the sharpness of the blade..than the razor itself.
Kudos for giving it a go and reporting on it! :)

    Friday morning.

    °1960s Gillette Lady
    °Blue Bird Hi-Stainless
    °TSD vetiver soap/Omega brush

2 1/2 pass BBS. Blade is good and once struck me as great, but not anymore. Feels a bit sharper than the Big Ben but definitely not as smooth...actually slightly rough feeling. Would not try to obtain more of them. Plus the Lady is a bit too mild; will put it away again for the girls in about 8 years.

Cologne: Avon's old Structured for Men "Steel." Clean, sharp, bracing.

Compliments at work on the November mustache are outweighing negative comments, so there's that.

    Fragrant Friday
I went with Lavanille today because it is one of my favorite scents. Matched with near optimal B&M performance and post shave feel means an excellent shave. I only needed two passes with der Vorschlaghammer to achieve comfortably smooth skin. I finished with Maggard's London Barbershop aftershave, another great product.

    Prep: Proraso Green pre Barba
    Soap: B&M Lavanille
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Der Vorschlaghammer
    Blade: Personna lab blue (2)

Another terrific BBS face-freezing shave which I had so much fun and enjoyment doing despite the relatively poor quality of the Dorco blade. Something tells me I may have to change it before Monday because it started to really tug on my second pass, and I had to be careful in order to avoid getting cut. The Palmolive Menthol is such an awesome cream - its minty scent, its lather, and its menthol power are all so wonderful, and not only does it leave my skin feeling cold, the skincare is perfect as well. The Proraso Green aftershave was a great buy for just 14,00$ last week - it gave me plenty of additional cooling. ;) :D

Have a nice weekend, folks! :)

    Prep: hot shower

    Blade: Feather (day 1)
    Brush: Vie-Long
    Soap: Proraso Green
    Passes: 2 (WTG, XTG)
    Post: Arko Ice Mint

I loaded up what might be my last Feather blade for today's shave. It's been awhile since I last used a Feather. I find the to be a smidgen to harsh, today was no different.

Other then the harshness of the Feather, zero complaints with this shave.

    Prep: glycerin soap
Brush: 20mm Whipped dog set deep
    Scuttle: Georgetown Pottery
    Razor: Gem Damaskeen
    Blade: GEM STAINLESS PTFE
    Lather: My French Soap Mix
    Witch Hazel: Generic unscented
Post: Avon Musk Marine After Shave Conditioner

That Damaskeen razor produces a very nice and even shave. For me, the SEs produce a different shave than the DEs. Not necessarily better or worse, just different. 2-1/2 passes for a very fine shave.
