1. I am still in. Haven't shaved today as I felt a little ill . Very odd for me to go a day without shaving. Before today i shaved every day this month. Here is the set up

  2. I was technically defeated on the first day when my Maca Root caused some serious burning. But I'm still going with my Schick blade on shave 7 and going for 30.
  3. After today's shave, I have decided to continue the NOVember quest. Saturday's line up: the same as today's.

  4. image.jpg image.jpg Had a hiccup....but got it fixed and still in it!

NOVember continues...planned shave for later shall not deviate...hope everyone has a good weekend!
  5. My first temptation to break came in the mail today! A 1971 Super Speed. It needs some cleaning and such before it's ready to use. I'm not in a rush to try anything new yet though as I'm still learning. Today was my first day trying to shave in the morning before work. I used to shave by feel in the shower (can foam and Fusion) which was fast and easy enough. When I started out with wet/DE shaving almost 2 weeks ago it would take ~40 minutes as I wanted to go super slow and not cut myself. Thus, I did my shaving at night until today. This morning I did a 3 pass with a very nice result in less than 15 minutes (not including the prep I did in the shower) but I did get one nick. I'm getting faster and more accurate. Still not sure what I did wrong to get that nick. It was on the jaw line on my first pass (WTG)... Usually when I've gotten nicks or weepers it's on the last pass when I'm ATG trying to get very close. Must have been on the wrong angle or with too much pressure.

  7. Still in, keeping the faith with this shave kit. Heck I may never change.

The Captains Choice bay rum is one of my favorites, but I do miss my other AS. At least it has great skin care. The TSD Lanolin soap will probably be gone by the end of the month.
  8. My SOTD. Or should I call it my "SSDD?" ;)

I am still in. One week down, and I am still master of my domain. Been a tough week, both in real life and in terms of staying faithful to just one setup for 7 days. I am thinking the next 7 should be easier. Tonight's shave helped -- 2-pass BBS followed by watching my daughter in her first official swim practice, then pizza and movie night at home. Great ending to a long work week.

  9. Lol I like that. SSDD.

  10. Just take it easy... Some of the problems at first may in fact be exacerbated by your old cartridge routine and the differences in the head geometry between carts and DE. DE shaving is a skill. And like any other skill, practice perfects it. This NOVember game we are playing is really gonna help solidify routine/technique. I am glad you are getting into this!

    Well played!

  11. Here's my pic of all my stuff after about a week. Better get some more AV :) I think the Wilkinson Sword stick will make it but it'll be close. My razor needs a cleaning too but it'll have to wait until the blade needs changing and hopefully that's still 22 days away. We'll see how that works for me.

  12. That's a very nice family night! When our kids were young we'd do the same thing. :happy088:

  13. Awww. Was the brussh tired and feel down? I'm getting goofy without any change...

I'm still in even though my new Semogue 1520 came today. I really don't like the Omega (10049?) I'm using, but I'll stick with it. Cleaned the razor today. No new pics.
  14. I'm still in! Almost screwed up yesterday when out of habit I just reached up and grabbed a random soap but caught myself ( it was earlier than my normal shave time). It's a bit boring as far as scent but I'm getting a great shave!
  15. Great shaves are what we seek!

  16. I am still in, but I have a problem . I though the more I used this razor the better I would get, but it seems the opposite is true. I am getting a little more irritation then I normally do. The Pils does use a weird angle and I think I am over analysing my technique and making incorrect adjustments.
I think tomorrow I will just try and relax and let instinct take over.

Do you dislike the brush because you have used it so many times you're bored with it, or because you have used it so many times you have realised you don't like it?

  17. 3 pass BBS today with the same kit. Slowly phasing in the Parker SR1 Shavette, because I want to learn that skill too. Today was my 3rd attempt with it on 3 days of hair growth(as much as I like before it gets itchy. I grow alot of hair, but just not quite enough to shave everyday.) Did the WTG pass with the Parker Shavette and an Astra SP 1/2'd. Was fantastic until I cut myself on my cheek, but it was so slight that it bled for literally a second and just looks like a 1" line across my cheek. The Shavette got caught in a patch of hair and got stuck like a car in mud, but instead of trying to soldier through, I picked the blade off of my face, relathered and went at it again from a little bit higher and it was fine. I'm still proud of the WTG pass I did as my 3rd attempt. I got really close and smooth, but I think I had a little bit of irritation because of using too much angle to get it to cut, or something. I still can't use my right hand(left handed) well, so I'm doing the whole thing with my left hand. But, so far, so good. I'm not even close to being discouraged.

Used the rest of my standard kit for the rest
-Shower with light facial cleanse, not a scrub(I only scrub on non-shaving days).
    -Cadet OC with Astra SP
    -Whipped Dog Synthetic 24mm.
    -Proraso White
    -Clubman AS
    -Witch Hazel and Aloe blend.
  18. My brush is just resting between shaves since it is being used every day this month. Just mixing it up for NOVember.

  19. That is the best approach.

  20. Joe, I think it's the latter. The Omega is a big brush (for example compared to my WD badger or the Semogue that just game in). And I seem to be smearing the lather around thinly rather than brushing it on, a problem I don't have with the WD. I find myself having to squeezing the lather out and then put it on my face. Maybe it's me. Does this type of brush require a different technique?
