Excellent shave, a bit closer than my favored Feather AS-D2, but still on the mild end of the spectrum, wonderful heft and balance with the bull dog handle.

Loaded up a new Feather in my FB checking how the blade set in the razor before I closed the doors. I then checked to see if the blade was even on all sides. All is good. Hot face wash with Dove Cucumber soap. Kept my face wet while I whipped up the Castle in my Old Spice mug. Love this mug, and I just got a backup that is NIB. Taking my time, WTG XTG on my face an neck on 5 ATG on my neck on 3. Two passes and a great shave. Pat dry and then some Thayers Cucumber WH, felt good. After cleaning up and a shower, some more WH and JB. OS to finish off a great shave. Have a good day my friends!
Welcome to the Den! I have the Nivea Balm also and like it a lot. My favorite is Jack Black Gel. Looks like you use 5 on your 'Black Beauty'. I use 5 on my face and 3 on my neck. Gotta love these adjustables.
Thanks for the welcome. The Black Beauty is my birth razor and I use it frequently. I usually use it with a Feather but tried an Israeli Personna Red today and got a very nice shave. I use 5 on my neck and 6 or 7 on my face. My facial hair is wire thick but my skin is sensitive. I use the Nivea when I have a cologne that pairs well with the soap and want the balm scent to dissapear quickly. It is inexpensive and performs well.
My beard is light but I also use a Feather blade. With the heavy head of the adjustables I let the razor do the work. My go to razor is my FB, but I rotate a Slim and Black Beauty short handle into the mix, same settings. I have a toggle but it only comes out on special occasions. Enjoy the ride. My razor head combo experiment worked! I did my first 2 passes with the R41 and shavecraft handle, and then did my ATG and touch up with the 102 head. Great results and I got the best of both worlds. My face feels crazy stupid smooth... Have a great week gents...
