Sunday - Secret Santa Shave

Prep: wash with CeraVe cleanser
Soap: Stirling "Naked & Smooth"
Brush: Omega 80097 boat
Razor: iKon ShaveCraft 101
Blade: Super Iridium
After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

First shave today with the Stirling soap and Omega 80097 boar from my Secret Santa. The Stirling soap seems very good, although I think made my lather too wet today. I'll use less water next time. The Omega boat did well, it is breaking in quickly. I gave it a few baths over the past two days to get rid of the stinky smell and it is already getting nice soft split ends. I like it!

I was just sitting here watching the Falcons whup up on the Cardinals when I realized that I forgot to post this morning's shave. This was my first shave since Thanksgiving days and I had quite a bit to mow down. Usually, if I have skipped the previous day, I can do a 3 pass shave and get a fantastic BBS. The downside is that the next day, I get a lot of irritation. I guess that my face gets used to not being shaved and then when I do shave, it is a little too sensitive.

I decided to see if I could avoid this by doing just a 2 pass shave today. I still got awesome results; just not quite BBS. We'll find out tomorrow if this was the way to go. Had I done a 3 pass shave today, I definitely would have had some irritation tomorrow. BTW, I normally shave with 3 passes each day and don't have any irritation at all.

What razor is that? If I had to guess, I would say it is a Edwin Jagger head on an Ikon bull dog handle. Looks good!

Hey Mike! Thanks for the complement. It's my Muhle R106 head on the Ikon handle. It's a combo I've never done before, but with having a lack of sleep the last few nights I didn't want to risk a slip.

 

I used the Maggards Cinnaconilla soap last year also. I had the same problem. Great lather and great scent but burning face and neck too. Pulled it out today again and same burning reaction. I must be allergic to the cinnamon also. Great soap but I threw it away. I've got a tub of Barrister & Mann's Winter Spice that smells great so I will give it a try tomorrow.

I have since found out that it might not be the cinnamon for me, but allspice instead.
I have some AS with cinnamon that give me no problems at all.

 

Well at least you know what to avoid in the future. And if you do happen to come across something that doesn't agree with you , I would gladly dispose of it for you.
