  1. Oh la la, we're getting into the last month of this year. Well, here are my frigid shaving plans for the beginning of December! :)

    Menthol Monday:

Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Lord Super/Dorco day 7
Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Stirling Glacial Wintergreen WH :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Polo Original EdT

Just thinking about this set-up is enough to make me start shivering because every item is so damned cold. The Gatsby facial wash packs a great menthol punch and it's very cleansing and moisturizing. The Glacial Lemon Chill soap is soooooo frigidly-cold that you almost want to be near a space heater while it's on your face. BTW, I find you could get absolutely delightfully-rich, stable lather with this soap if you let the puck soak for a few minutes and then spill out the water, followed by loading it on a fairly wet brush. The reason I say this is because the Glacial soaps tend to be very thirsty. The Glacial Wintergreen witch hazel has a menthol sensation which is so strong that you feel a cold tingle from it for hours after you applied it, and is it ever soothing and comforting. ;) :D

  3. Prep - Shower / Almond soap, pre-lather / hot towel
    Razor - Slim Adjustable
    Blade - Astra SP (#5)
    Brush - Omega 20106
Soap - Beer Soap Brewing Co. Spearmint & Eucalyptus
After - Alum / Witch Hazel
    Result - BBS

Not the pre-shave routine I'd recommend either! Put my pre-lather on, checked the fire for logs, spark came out and hit me fair and square on the Adam's apple. Got a huge blister now.......and it! hurts

Nivea for Men Sensitive Face Wash
    Tabac Shaving Soap
Omega Pro 49 boar brush (new to me)
    Schick Krona (new to me)
    Feather Hi-Stainless (new to me)
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Vegetal (new to me)

NOVember is over. Hurray! I am using four new items for today's shave. The Tabac Shaving Soap face-lathered very easily with my Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush. Two passes with my Schick Krona and Feather SS blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed, and it was a delightful shave.

The Veg is an interesting scent. It is not a girly scent at all. It may be a girl repellent, but we shall see. I just don't want to repel SWMBO.
  6. We expect a full report on whether the Veg selects you...

  12. Menthol Monday SOTD 12/01/14
    Razor: Weber w Bulldog Handle
Blade: Tomac SSS (Gillette Spoiler) (D7)
    Brush: Oscar11 w Plisson Synthetic
Shave Bowl: Dirty Bird 1.5 Scuttle
    Pre Shave Soap: MRGLO Lime
    Pre Shave Oil: Frosted Woodlands
    Shave Soap: Tiki Frosted Woodlands
    Post: Monster Alum Block
    Aftershave: HTGAM Al-Fin
With being homebound with my sinus issues for the last three days I decided to do something constructive with my time other than watch football today and first thing I did was replace the Omega Boar from my Oscar11 with a Plisson Synthetic and I think this combination looks quite better than the brown handle shipped by Plisson. Next thing I did which took up quite a few hours was come up with 3 new PSO for the fall/winter and the most complex is the one shown below Frosted Woodlands. Trying to match the Aroma and strength of the aroma was a b***h and now can fully appreciate the work Amanda went through in making up this custom soap for me. An aftershave in this aroma was on my to do list but cost of the EO's just to make 6 ounces was steep so not sure I want to take it to the next step. It was time consuming coming up with a near match to the shave soap aroma but it was quite satisfying when all said and done.

My first shave with this newly-honed W&B biggie wedge. This razor was one of three I've recently restored, and of the trio, this was the first to be honed. After honing this big blade, I can see why some avoid honing wedges: they will test your patience and endurance. This razor took a wickedly keen edge, however. It is also the largest blade (one inch at it's broadest point) I've used to date, and considering it happens to have a very sharp square tip, I entered the shave with some trepidation. Once I started shaving, I was quickly impressed by this big, silent whisker-killer. A truly enjoyable menthol-infused shave! Super-smooth 3-pass shave with no irritation and, more importantly, no blood-letting! I hope the other two Sheffield blades shave as nice as this one!

Have a great Monday, all & Happy December! :D
