Excellent shave today and absolutely love the scent of RSS (Black Amber Vanille). I'll just have to wait and see if I burn out on it in a few of days, which unfortunately usually happens to me.

A fun shave. The ol' Black Beauty is sharp as hell and was only slightly less comfortable than , say, a P74. I spent a few days honing it every now and then on jeans, my palm, etc.

    SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6

SETUP: Hot shower (wife would say "new to me")
RAZOR: Merkur 41c "1904" Open Comb (new to me)
BLADE: Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (new to me)
BRUSH: Whipped Dog Silver Tip (Butterscotch - Orange - Go Browns!)
SOAP: Proraso Green (an old standby)
AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush (new to me)

    12-6-14.JPG

My first shave with the 1904, I've always liked the old school look. It was also my first shave with the 7 O'clock SharpEdge blade, that I had read good reviews about. I've been told the 1904 is a mild shave and, looking at the near nonexistent blade gap, I figured that, too. During the first pass, I thought it was felt like my Old Type, a little rough. But I soon realized it was the blade catching on my beard. That first pass was no fun. But, the 2nd and 3rd passes went very, very well. I noticed that although there is very little blade gap, it was very easy through the feedback to tell when the blade was at the right angle. I believe you guys say the blade would "sing". I really liked the small handle (only slightly shorter than my Old Type and my New). It was very maneuverable. Finished up and I've realized that this is a very mild shave, it just took a bit getting used to.

Note on the Barbasol Pacific Rush AS. I'm big on cheap aftershave and the Barbasol was a Dollar General find. If you like menthol, you'll like this! The scent is very mild, but the menthol chill lasted for a 1/2 hour! :Animatedfrozensmily: It was wonderful! :signs021:

The Merkur 1904 OC are great shavers; very mild and intuitive. You can hear when the blade angle is right on. Smooth close mild shave with these babies!

    Shave of the day

    Pre- Hot shower

Soap/cream- Haslinger schafmilch shave soap and Florena shave cream

    Brush- Omega boar 10810

    Razor- Gillette Slim adjustable(5)

    Blade- Astra superior platinum

Post- Cold water rinse, Alum block, Speick aftershave and Nivea Sensitive aftershave balm(BOMBED with menthol)

An okey shave today. Some razorburn my fault.

I tried mentholating a small amount of Nivea sensitive AS balm to see if it could be done. I put to much crystals, I only realized that after I applied the balm... The burn omg! Haha I had to rinse it off, I was still feeling the chill about 5-10 minutes after =P

    Shave of the Day

    Saturday, December 6

Prep: Shea Black African Facial Soap, homemade patchouli & sandalwood PSO, hot towel
Razor: 1909 Gillette Old type single ring
    Blade: Feather Stainless
Brush: New Forest 2204 High Mountain Badger
Lather: Whoos - Warp Punk soap
Shave (setting): 3 passes; WTG, XTG, ATG + Cleanup
Post: cold water, Aqua Velva Ice Blue splash

Used a Feather for the first time this year, a long hiatus. I rediscovered how extreme this blade is. Extremely sharp and extremely unforgiving. But delivers a fantastic shave.

I have a true BBS shave. Like BBS++.

What does Warp Punk soap smell like you may ask? Awesome. Sandalwood, Cedar, citrus, black currant, vetiver, amber, and mulberry. I just like to smell the mug and breathe deep. Unlike any other soap I've smelt.

Splashed on the icy goodness of AV and marveled at how smooth and irritation free my shave was. Not much burn at all.

    Have a great Saturday gentlemen.

JR Reyes I scream for....chicken wings??

Lol...thanks Guy. To be honest it's just proof that I will try and make a lather bowl out of just about anything. I call it resourceful, while the wife calls it annoying..lol. It actually worked pretty good.
