12/13/14 Fantastic shave today! The stars aligned and it all came together. The soap was a bit more hydrated and lathered up really easily and the resulting slick lather was great smelling and feeling. I took the photo before I shaved and ended up using Captain's Choice Bay Rum instead. The shave was so smooth I felt absolutely no sting anywhere when I applied the Bay Rum. Shave of the day Pre- Hot shower Soap/cream- Stirling soap Grapefruit Brush- Omega boar 10810 Razor- Gillette Slim adjustable(5) Blade- Astra superior platinum Post- Cold water rinse, Alum block and Rituals samurai aftershave balm It has been a long time since I used my Stirling soaps. Why? I have no idea, this is darn good soap. Grapefruit is a very nice scent. Slick and protective lather. 2 passes with some clean up for a DFS! I usually don't recommend stuff for others but Rituals samurai aftershave balm is very nice. Nice scent and moisturizing affect. This is the Aftershave balm:

At $12 a puck, I would hesitate to call it exorbitantly priced. http://usa.loccitane.com/cade-shaving-soap,82,1,29221,283018.htm
You know, you're right -- I was thinking of their aftershave and their shave cream that was fairly high-priced for a "mall store" product.
SOTD Saturday 12/13/14 As planned (no pic here - see above) Razor: 1980 Black Handle Super Speed Blade: Astra SP Soap: Proraso Green Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush I don't have much in the way of software, so right now it's either Proraso Green or Stirling Black Ice. After several disappointing shaves with the Merkur 1904, I finally got a decent shave again with the 1980 Super Speed. Probably DFS because I was in a bit of a hurry, but definitely more satisfying. Still LOVE that Barbasol Pacific Rush - man is that a cold AS!

Saturday: Prep: Shower / Noxzema Soap: Proraso White Brush: VDH boar Razor: SS Blade: Big Ben AS: Dickersons WH / Bump Patrol Tried the Big Ben blades today, they were decent, I've had some irritation so I only did a WTG. I may circle back to the Big Ben, one difference today is that I did not palm strop it like I have other blades. I may give that a shot next time to see if it's smoother. I also tried some bump patrol as some people seem to like it here. I'm still working on my technique and looking for a blade.
6/8 Hoffritz Glace Herbe (Catie's Bubbles) homemade boar If your a vetiver lover, as I am, this is just an amazing soap. I'd like to thank my friend moz68 for this along with a tub of B&M Levithan which is very appealing to my nose too. Very nice shave this morning. Have a good one. BTW, I've heard a rumor of another brush give away for the Christmas season too.
A leisurely Saturday shave with one of my favorite razors, The New Improved. A work of art both mechanically and aesthetically, it performs the job while looking good.
Planned SOTD 13 December 2014 - Best of old and new! 1953 (Y4) Gillette Tech loaded with Gillette Silver Blue Omega 48 Pro (Boar) Proraso Red >>TSD Iced Subzero AS Splash<< Jeris Hair Tonic This will be my first go with the new-to-Samurai Tech. Pictures posted on The Haul: December 2014. The Red Proraso was my first quality soap purchase, nice to return to it for a change. I selected everything for this shave to reflect the colors of the Christmas season...office party tonight. The TSD Iced Subzero provides good moisture and skincare, and is seriously menthol cold, and is becoming my go-to AS. It has little scent other than menthol, so I will use actual Eau de Toilette tonight, pretty sure it will be LaCoste Pour Homme in the green label. Normally I will piggy back it with an American old school classic alcohol AS, but for tonight a little something extra. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
