I don't think the case is original to the razor. From my limited research the razor appears to be a G1 but the case a G8 (lid is missing) -Yes I did find something for my wife
For my birthday the wife gave me a razor and brush stand (rosewood) from West Coast Shaving. And from Wm. Neumann & Co the Signature 1907 shave soap - what an incredible scent. I can't wait to try it out. Neumann also threw in some small samplers of their AS and bar of the Peppermint Leaf Soap. (The wife also let slip that she got me the Merkur 34C for Christmas)
My friend who is into wetshaving bought me a razor yesterday. AutoStrop VB1 with original blades, holder, and case. The tag on the case says Jacksonville Daily Journal, which is the local newspaper in a town an hour north of me. So that's cool.

Thanks! I have another VB1 and a VC4 in my collection and they shave OK, the worst part is you have to modify blades. The VB1 only requires removing the spine and clipping the corners and it'll slide in. The VC4 however, you either need to order feather SE blades or get out the drill. I did the latter and drilled holes in the blade after removing spine and corners. It fit and shaved OK, not as good of a shave as my gem and ever ready razors though.
