It looks like the site is sold out at this time but they are taking emails for their next run.

I put in an order that must have been one of the very last ones.

I shaved with mine yesterday and got a smooth DFS. It's definitely below a Fatip in aggresivness, I'd say it's like my gillette new short comb. I love the look of the razor and made buffing feel smoother with the strokes. The fit on this razor is nice, I didn't have to realign the blade. The only negative thing I can say about the razor is that mine had some extra bits of plate between the teeth that made it look weird. I fixed that with a nail file, looks perfect now. I'm glad I ordered mine, it's a keeper for sure.

The Gillette New is one of the most gentle razors out there if i´m right,or? That sounds wonderful. My razors can´t be gentle enough while shaving. I love it if you don´t know if you have a blade inserted or not. ;)

Honestly depends on who you ask...some find the NEW a bit much, some too little, and some (like me), "just right." Then there's very slight perceived differences between SC and LC.

I will have a look...for me the New is one of these gentle razors. With an Astra blade it's a fantastic thing to shave with.

Had my third shave with a vintage "Shave King" today, while it was better than my first, it's still not on par with a Gillette "NEW" LC, Cadet or ER 1924 on my face at least. I'm glad to see the razor seems to be working well for some people and look forward to future reviews. :)

    Very excited,
Just got an email that mine is on its way. I like a more aggressive razor and I know I can always add a spacer to a mild razor while it's hard to take gap away without destroying the finish.

Shaved with mine for the first time today and was very impressed. I paired it with a Gillette silver blue and did my usual 3 pass shave and touch up. BBS and zero irritation. If I have any complaint it would be that I prefer a longer, heavier handle. Next time I will try it with my Ikon Special Edition handle and see if it makes a difference.

Had my last shave, at least for the time being, with my "Shave King" DBL OC. I went back to my Cadet OC and got my usual close, irritation free shave. I'll keep the SK of course for the collection and to try again in the future with another blade. :)
I'm really glad to see so many are liking the "Shave King" so far.. :)
One other thing I wanted to report I changed back to the lighter original aluminum handle and I got a bit better shave with the SK at least from an irritation stand point.

    +1

Nice intro to this razor, Misphit. I am doing my darnedest to resist the temptation to become, like most of y'all, another razor collector. I admit, though, that I have a pretty heavy proxy on a very nice looking Fat Boy at ebay, and if I win it in four days, I will have TWO E-2 Gillette razors, a Super Speed and a Fat Boy. If I don't win that Fat Boy, I could be game for this neat looking razor.

I received my Phoenix Dbl OC razor about a week ago but was finishing up another project (feather review) so I was unable to shave with it. Here are my thoughts after three days of shaving. On the whole I think the razor may be a miss for me. That’s really a shame because it’s beautiful. How could you not like the open cap that looks like the grill on a truck? The finish is nice, bright and mirror like. The handle is large and the knurling aggressive enough to grip easily and it feels weighty but not too heavy in the hand. If you prefer a lighter handle one can easily be substituted. I tend to over grip a heavy razor for fear of dropping it while a lighter razor seems to float in my hand. Somewhere around super speed size and weight is best for me.

The cap has two short little bars that hold the razor but it’s also curved so the blade must be set on the cap and then the comb set on and then pressed into the cap to flex the blade. Then you need to get the bars thru the blade and then thru the cap. It sounds complicated and can take a bit of fineness and wiggling to get everything lined up. Once you get the blade fitted into the head you can screw the handle on. It’s not a big deal to figure out. Had the bars been a touch longer it would have been very easy.

As far as blade exposure goes this razor is really an odd duck. Let me try to explain. To me the shave is much milder than my Edwin Jagger DE89. The cap has an open comb and the open comb safety bar work together to curve or flex the blade and the combs channel the hair between the teeth to do the cutting. Because of the closeness of the cap and the comb the angle is critical to even get the blade to contact the hair. Due to the mildness of the razor I needed to go back over areas trying to get a close shave but I found I could do so repeatedly without irritation. If you like to make one “squeegee like swipe” this may not be the razor for you if however you like to make many swipes or buffing this would be a good choice.

Honestly I prefer a more aggressive razor and I tried a blade shim or two and could not get it much more open.

    A few shots.

I found with mine I could get a close irritation free shave, but it didn't last more than a few hours. My 5 o'clock shadow showed up soon after lunch.

Looking at that picture it's not the gap that would concern me, it's the exposure. I think the reason the razor is so mild is that there is virtually no blade extending beyong a line connecting the baseplate and the top cap.

On the other hand, I LOVE mild razors so I would probably get along with it very well.
