28th December 2014 Shave A nice shave this morning. Two pass BBS with no incidences since I did not try using the lever.
Thank you! Yes it is incredible and there is a backstory to it. A little more than 2 years Steve (@oscar11) had some spalted maple that he was working up. Note that Steve does not ususually work in wood, but he was just having a little fun with the maple, so he made a couple of blank handles for me to experiment with. After I received the blanks they were finished staining with a light layer of cherry stain on this one and the other one which was a slightly smaller handled brush which contains a 27 mm Omega knot that you will see from time to time. I also placed decorative bottom plates on each. This one is a watch face replica in smoked brass. I don't use this one a much as the boar brush, but when I do it does makes an impression.
31 December 2014 Shave An absolutely wonderful shave today with the Schick J3 / Gillette Twin Injector combination. I really enjoyed this setup today. This will also be the last of the vintage radio, phonograph and television background motif which allowed me to combine a couple of my pursuits together in one image.
I picked up a Schick Injector the other week. It looked like it was in pretty good shape. I cleaned it up by bringing some water to a boil the pouring just enough into a mug to cover the head. I used a toothpick to open the head a bit. I then let is soak for 10 - 15 minutes. I then let soak in scrubbing bubbles and gave it the once over with a toothbrush. My issue is it has green tint that came back after cleaning on the safety bar and on the underside of the head. - See pictures below 1. I have read that this is an indicator of corrosion and there is not a solution. Is this correct? 2. I would assume that if it is corrosion I probably don't want to shave with it? Any input?
Use vinegar and a toothbrush to reduce the oxidation and then polish with a good protecting polish such as Flitz. See below. http://homeguides.sfgate.com/remove-rust-brass-hardware-28967.html
3 January 2015 Shave Another nice shave again with the Schick J3 / Gillette Twin Edged Blade combination. Solid performance was provided by the Matador "croap" and Super Badger Brush combination. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/matador-zagara-shaving-soap.42356/
4 January 2015 Shave A very nice shave again with the Schick J3 / Gillette Twin Edged Blade combination. Solid performance was provided by the Matador "croap" and semogue brush combination.
Working on a 30 day with a Clog Pruf for January. I must say January 4th is a lot better than the 1st. The PTFE coated GEM blade has mellowed out and today's shave was pretty nice. This razor will bite you if you aren't careful.
My EverReady 1914 came in the mail today. I can hardly wait to use this, after the January 30 day exercise is finished.
Shave number six this morning with the ER 1912 and a Gem Stainless, PTFE coated blade. This is by far my most efficient razor, nice comfortable shaves and not one weeper. Dave
