SOTD January 1, 2015 First shave of the year, and it was a great one! I just received a 100-pack of Gillette 7 O'clock Yellow blades so I used one of these... It is one of my top 3-4 types of blades. The Standard Razor continues to impress me. Very smooth shave, without too much irritation and no nicks or cuts at all. The Elizabeth Street cream from The New York Shaving Company is a good performer and lathers very easily -- maybe too easily. I feel a little "cheated" when I use it, just like I do with my TOBS sandalwood cream or my Bigelow Proraso cream because I don't need to whip it in a bowl or use a brush with backbone. It just seems so much more satisfying to face-lather with my Wilkinson stick or Arko stick, or whip up a lather with B&M lather or MWF or Maggard's Limes and Bergamot. Still, I had a fantastic shave. The only real drawback was that the New York Shaving cream clogs quite a bit, requiring more frequent rinsing or swishing. Modern razors are definitely taking the lead for me lately. Between the Standard, the Phoenix, my EJ89, my 37C slant, and my Maggard MR6B, I'm mostly rotating through modern razors these days and putting most of the vintage razors on the back burner. Except for the '41 Ranger Tech and '40 Milord... Those are still my favorites out of my entire collection. Happy New Year to everyone! Here's to a great 2015. Eric

Jan 2 - 2015Gillette Rocket / Super Max (1) Proraso Blue Cream NGT Pure Badger Retinol Men ASB Pinaud Clubman A very good shave except for my carelessness. I found a pimple I did not know I had under my lip and shaved the top off of it. I was surprised at that and the razor slipped a little and I gave myself a small slice. Neither one needed the styptic and the shave was very smooth and ended uup BBS. Jasper felt better today and made it into the photo.
Thanks! The brush was my first quality Silvertip I had every purchased and you can't pass up a Fatboy. Many thanks to @PanChango (Dale) for the Klar Kabinett PIF it is a fantastic soap and @JR Reyes sent me the mug for Christmas. All in all a DFS this morning.

2 January 2015 Shave A very nice shave again with the Schick J3 / Gillette Twin Edged Blade combination. Solid performance was provided by the Matador "croap" and synthetic brush combination.
Doble Temple De Vergulde Hand homemade handle, Shavemac knot This Shavmac has potential, it's their lowest grade hair, pure. I picked up the knot for around $62 shipped and really enjoy the way this knot performs. I'd call the hair a bit on the coarse side and a little scruffy but not prickly. I think I'll end up brush I'm pretty fond of. Nice shave today. Have a good one.
2 Jan 2015 Pre - Corn Huskers Soap - Li Occitane Cade Brush - Li Occitane Plisson Razor - Rockwell 6S (#3 plate) Blade - Astra SP (1) AS - Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve First time using the new Rockwell razor. Passable shave, not real close do to new razor and the noise. This audible feedback on this LOUD, reminded me of when the barber uses a straight on my neck. No cuts, scraps and no sting with alum block. Working on a complete review and will post separately.
My first shave with the Arlington cream. Nice enough but I think I prefer the Marlborough fragrance. Also, I noticed the lid design is different from my other D.R. Harris products. D.R.Harris Arlington cream Rooney Heritage Stubby 3 brush (soon to be on BST. I want a smaller one) Gold Gillette Fat Handle Tech and fast becoming my favorite in-production blade, Rapira Swedish Super Steel (5) L'Occitane Baux balm
How do you like the 4711? I can pick up a pack of the aftershave and cologne - both big bottles - for about $25 and curious how it is
