This is another Christmas shave: the Omega brush was a gift from my son in law Bobby and the soap from my mother in law Martha. Comfortable and smooth.

Around 10:00 p.m. is when I always check to see how my morning shave went. A great shave will last all day.

I use the same set-up for my R41 (2011). The T2 handle gives the big tooth comb head perfect balance and controlability.

After two weeks with the same set up, I looked forward to the variety today, even if my away-from-home setup was close to my ideal. The menthol in the Ginger's Garden was much more noticeable than I remembered; either it's intensifying as it matures, or the RazoRock One-X has 'taught' me how to notice the menthol better, or the chill in the air around here made it stand out more. Much as I respect @GDCarrington's opinion on all things shaving, I can't say I share his enthusiasm for the Big Ben, which felt fairly rough on its maiden journey. In the spirit of experimentation, I opted not to do a third pass on my throat. . . not because I want to become a neckbeard, but because the 3rd pass on my throat so often produces weepers. Still wound up with nearly BBS results.

Used my Great Uncle's Old Type for only the second time. As I said above, this razor was a gift from my 90 year old aunt. My first attempt with this razor (early in my wet shaving "career") resulted in a close shave, but it was rough and not at all enjoyable. Naturally, I was a little apprehensive about this second try. But I've gained quite a bit more experience with OC razors using a LC New, a SC New, a Merkur 1904, and a New Standard in the time since my first try with the Old Type. Looking at the razor there is barely any blade gap, the blade sits flat against the comb. You would think it would be a mild shave, but I know from reading here in the forums that the Old Type is fairly aggressive.

I started with an extra thick lather and made sure to pay close attention to angle. I had forgotten how light this razor is. I found that the combination of the razor and the new Astra blade made short work of my beard. The light feel of the razor also made it very easy to shave trouble spots like my neck and jaw line. I used my normal 3 passes (WTG/XTG/ATG) and the resulting shave was very close and very comfortable; just a tiny bit of irritation under my chin. The cold Barbasol aftershave felt great and there was just a small amount of feedback on my neck and chin area (that's pretty normal). So, I guess this one's a "keeper" and will move into my normal rotation. I'm glad I tried it again!

Congrats on your shave! I'm sure you are happy that your family heirloom is also a great shaver. Your Great Uncle would be proud.

Great shave. Everything worked well together. The soap is outstanding, the brush too. Scott knows what to do!!! The Razor is (for me) very mild but very smooth. He has a good audible feedback, which i really like. The Tee Trea Aftershave smells great and makes the skin fell very good afterwards. As the ice on the cake i put some Shea butter on my skin. That shea butter is awesome. Smells great and my skin fells fantastic.

All in all it couldn´t have been a better shave. Glad all over.

I hope you enjoyed (and will enjoy) your shaves just like me.

Clear & mild again here this morn', 18ºF/-8ºC @ 07:00 and a high this afternoon of 52ºF/11ºC, sunny & a slight east wind. Another excellent shave from this very nicely balanced W&B and the lowered SOC & Mitchell's were infallible, as ever. Have a good un' folks.

Ah, very nice Bruce. Yes, the T2 handle balances the head very well. I love the weight, the ergonomics of it and how I can place my pinky on the flared bottom.

Yep! I put my pinky on the flared bottom as well.

It a very cool looking scuttle and I like it however, I use it mostly as a shaving soap dish because I also use a Georgetown Pottery Scuttle which has a larger resevoir and wider lather bowl which heats the lather better and allows a bigger lather area for the brush. I actually warm the soap in the Lord Nelson with warm water on the cake for a couple of minutes; load the brush then, lather in the GP scuttles' lather bowl to heat the lather.
I can see how the Lord Nelson scuttle would work pretty well if that was all that was available but, it can't match the performance of the larger lather scuttles available today. I still like it though and think it is pretty cool looking!
