He probably just needed a 30 day rule to work out his technique. And it wouldn't hurt to explain that we're shaving faces and necks here, not trimming fingernails. Evil geniuses can be so hard to talk to sometimes.

That is a very nice looking tech. I have shaved with a 53 and it was mild and very smooth shaving! Glad you had a good day!

Are you going over your neck without any cream on it? For touch up. Have you tried a preshave oil? You can make your own. Try dialing the progress down 1 after your first pass. For the chin, use short light fast strokes, it's called buffing. Keep it wet,
SOTD January 8, 2015 Prep: Hot shower. Axe Shield Face Wash Razor: RazoRock Stealth Slant Blade: Feather Brush: L'Occitane Plisson Lather: Speick Men Active Post: Alum.Thayers Lavender WH. Aftershave: Speick Speick Active is a good soap, I perfer the cream. Feather blades arent all that. IMO after the first shave they lose their sharpness. The RRSS continues to provide me with the best possible shaves available. Plisson. If you don't have one. Get one. Go out and get it!
Always you cream but I didn't use oil yesterday but interested in making and trying my own! Thanks for the thread.
1/8/2015 30 Day - Shave # 8 Prep - Hot Shower Razor - Mongoose Satin B2 Blade - Kai Mild (1) Brush - Rubberset 400 with WSP HMW Lather - Soap Commander Confidence Post - Witch Hazel and AOS Sandalwood Balm While the Kai Mild blade was sharp for yesterday's shave the smoothness was not there. With a new blade ended up very good 2 pass shave with touch ups around the chin. As usual the Soap Commander provided a great lather. Very pleased with the progress this month.
Guys. I apologize. I haven't been able to stick with one set up. January is a bad month for me to take on this challenge due to getting a bunch of new things for Christmas I just can't resist. I tried though. I will probably partake in this challenge again down the road later in the year.
I understand completely. Given that I usually have zero patience, the fact that I'm made it this far is shocking me. Were it not for starting with a brand new razor, I'm sure I would fallen off the wagon by now.
Shave #4 of on the #30-day challenge: Brush: Simpson's Chubby 2 in best Razor: ATT M2 with UFO Handle and a fresh Polsilver SI \ Soap: Tabac original AS: Home made extra menthol AS splash I think I have my verdict on the Chubby 2. It is a beautiful brush, sturdy and well built. I understand the rave around it. I also like the fact that it keeps the lather warm for several minutes. However, its huge knot and density are deal breakers for me. The "good lather" is kept inside the brush, and since I most often do a single-pass plus touch ups shave, I end up wasting soap and losing the best lather. I have other stellar brushes such as the Thater 4125/2 two-band, Plisson synthetic and the Tulip T2 two band that will get the deserved attention. That's what I most enjoy in the wetshaving hobby: trying out different products and brands and keeping only what works best for you. I will continue to use the Chubby 2 during the 30-day challenge, then I will probably offer it on the BST.
