10 January 2015 Shave The Taconic soap has been a welcome addition to my shaving den. The three soaps that I bought look like "melt and pour" but they are hazy and not fully clear as most melt and pour soaps are. The ingredients listing includes hemp seed oil and Bentonite clay. The clay would account for the hazy look but the soap. The soap provided a thick, slick lather that lasted for two full face passes and had plenty left over for another full head and face pass. A nice two pass BBS shave was easily obtained. Each of the soaps had a nice scent as well, with the Eucalyptus Mint being a surprise standout. This new soap is a keeper in my rotation. Extra information on soaps below. This posting also counts as my review on the Taconic soaps. http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/the-haul-january-2015.42303/page-4#post-771762 @Omelmad
I'm the same when it comes to the shovel head - love this razor but anything with a shorter handle is not as enjoyable for me to use.
I received a jar of TOBS Rose cream in themail yesterday, so I used it this morning. I love the scent of rose. TOBS Rose Slim Adjustable Feather Blade
Another shave in paradise this morning. I went to day 4 on a blade which I normally don't do because the shave doesn't last as long. No tugging or irritation. Gillette LC New Bulldog Gillette Silver Blue Semogue BC Texugo Institut Karite Alum Superior 70
It is all in how you pronounce the word "Uran-us." A local sports talk radio station in my area has this word in heavy rotation in conversation for some reason ...

So I broke 2 of my normal rules today. 1: Always skip a day and 2: don't shave on the weekend. But my order came in and I had to try it! Music: Mississippi Delta Blues mix Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar Razor: we've decided it's probably a 1946-1950 Gillette Tech Gold Blade: Shark Super Stainless Soap: Arko stick pressed into a mug Brush: Omega 13522 Post: Pinaud Lime Sec I am pleased with the Tech and Shark blades. Only one weeper on ATG pass in a trouble spot. 3 passes and some cleanup and almost 0 irritation, borderline DFS, which is a pretty great first time outing if you ask me. First time with a brush and I did ok but need more practice. I think the Arko has a permanent home in my shave den though! And the Lime Sec pairs well with it. And most importantly, SWMBO likes the scent of both the Arko and the Lime Sec. I may never use the VdH razor again.
The nice thing about these soaps is that they come in a clear wrapper inside the tin so you can place them in a larger container rather than the small tins. I then use the tins for the SOTD photos and have my soaps in easy to use wide mouth containers with sealed lids.

∙Super Adjustable on 7-8 ∙'60s Personna Stainless (shave #4) ∙TSD vetiver soap Now I know this particular blade tops out, for me, at 3 shaves. Had to ratchet up the SA to 8 to squeeze the last shave out of it (and still only ended up DFS+), but it was serviceable for a weekend. No burn, not going anywhere, so no a/s.
