For my personal edification, I'm putting an Astra SP blade into the Fatty tomorrow and then I'll compare to the SuperMax blade I've been using. Although I'm happy with the Astra's I've been interested in exploring other blades. Maybe a Rapira (sp?) next? Feather? :shocked003:

    Evening Shave for Tomorrow
A lovely close shave with luxurious MdC lather. Sometimes a shave can be so enjoyable I consider a fourth or fifth pass. :D
    Have a great HumpDay, all!

My Favorite part of this forum is the SOTD photo's. My previous comment was an attempt at humour, nothing more.

Absolutely! I am no photographer, I just try to get a shot that represents the stuff I'm using. But some of you gentlemen are artists with a camera. It's a pleasure to behold.

    SOTD Jan 14th:
Prep: Shower, Cromwell & Cruthers oil, Proraso green preshave soap (not in picture)
    Brush: Ecotool Kabuki brush
    Razor: Dovo Best Quality 5/8
    Soap: Shannon's Frosted Woodlands
Post: Homemade Frankenstein after shave and some Vaseline

I got the Kabuki (makeup) brush for Christmas as a bit of a joke because the Plisson was out stock. It's actually worked quite well, and I've been using it ever since. The loft is really short (haven't measured but i'm guessing around 35mm) so it has some good backbone and scrubbiness while still being really soft. I've also got a Muhle HMJ black fibre on the way that I'm excited about. The aftershave is a combo of the Rub, Witch hazel, a little glycerine, and a drop or two of Wintergreen EO in a dollar store Olive Oil bottle. Shannon's soap is a great combo of slickness and protection/post-shave feel, and the Frosted Woodlands scent is really nice.
**Sorry, not sure why the picture is coming up sideways.

    Smooth Citrus
I used CRSW Citrus again today - the scent is an intoxicating mixture of orange, lemon and grapefruit, with near optimal lather performance. The lather monster and Vorschlaghammer combined to comfortably erase my stubble. I finished with Fine Platinum, it's pineapple note pairing well with the citrus.
    Prep: Proraso White
Soap: Cold River Soap Works Select Citrus
    Brush: HIS XL lather monster
    Rasur: Der Vorschlaghammer 39c
    Blade: Astra SP
    AS: Fine Platinum

    Proraso Sensitive Preshave
    Simply Beautiful Badger
    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Merkur 34C w/Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum (4)
Cold splash, witch hazel, styptic, Lab Series balm, TSD AS Milk - Old Spice
    W/X/A, touch ups

This was my first shave with the MWF. Nice, light, clean scent. I had a bowlful of lather, but it was quite airy. Still, it gave me a decent shave in terms of irritation (it's been about 15 minutes, and I don't feel any rawness), and just shy of decent in terms of closeness on the jawline and neck. I'll rate the overall shave as "Decent" because of the lack of irritation.
