    THURzDAY
Super-smooth 3-pass shave with the Böker & Cade. I'm always amazed when using the Wee Scot brush— the performance it yields for such a tiny little brush is rather incredible.
Sure, I get lather all over my hands in using it, but man, what a great lil' brush! ;)

    Have a great Thursday, all!

About 2 weeks ago I changed my shaving pattern with excellent results. Basically, I have been skipping the WTG pass and substituting an additional XTG pass. This has made for a much more effective shave on my face (YMMV) without any noticeable irritation or redness. So, now I go XTG, XTG, ATG and have been quite happy with the results.

Wade & Butcher Celebrated Rattler, 7/8 Faux Frameback Half Hollow, Barber's Notch

Sometimes I like to shave with very old straight razors and, in particular, with those capable of showing their age. Despite of time and age, they always prove to be excellent straight razors, capable of giving an excellent shave. Just like this Wade & Butcher Celebrated Rattler - still having its original scales - a razor which passed through all of the past century and survived still today. With my joy and proud, of course.

    Schick G8 razor
    Personna blade
    Stirling Cool SS
    Plisson/L'Occtiane synthetic brush
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel/Sage mix
    CO Bigelow 1585 cologne

I think the Plisson can whip up a great lather with just about anything. Made for a great shave on a cold rainy morning. Also gotta think of a name for my Osage Rub mix. Takes to long to type all that out.

    Soap: Straight Razor Designs unscented
Brush: Bethlehem olive wood HIS synthetic
    Razor: Feather AS-D2
    Blade: Super Iridium
    After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion

The SRD soap performed well, good lather, completely scentless, rinsed easily, and left my face feeling good. It's quite different from most of my other soaps, but nice.

    Thursday Morning Shave
    Razor:
    Gillette Red Tip
    Blade: Topaz Stainless (3)
    Brush: Gillette
    Soap: Arko with Bergamot EO
    AS: Brut Original

Topaz started to loose its sharpness, but I guess I can use it one more time. Gillette shaving brush has a poor structure, but it creates such a really nice rich lather that I'm surprised. It was a great shave no nicks, irritation or weeper.

Nice shave this morning. I tried a new soap today. Very nice scent, lathered well and provided a good close protective shave. To me, the scent is too complex to describe other than it's very nice. I'll add that it's a hard soap and triple milled. Have a good one.

First time using an injector today. It was very mild...I mean very mild. Two passes gave me a passable shave but now, a few hours later, I can feel a lot of stubble under my chin I don't normally have with a DE/SE/Straight razor shave.

Apart from that it was a rather pleasant shave. I'd say it would be near impossible to cut yourself.

    Razor: Personna "Star Trek" razor

3 pass DFS today. Seems like it is either touch up or do a third pass, which is fine. I am starting to think my Cade soap is an eternal puck. Has not changed at all. I can still read the stamp!

I'm calling my brush the "Mystery" boar because it has no markings on it. I got it together with a shave mug at an antique store and I'm glad I did. It's turned out to be a dandy little tool.

SoTD for Thursday, January 15 or Single Edge mania day 2

    Pre- lavender eucalyptus pso
Soap- Bearded Jack cherry vanilla tobacco
Brush- Ever Ready with new synthetic knot
Razor- Micromatic with bakelite bullet tip
    Blade- PAL carbon blue
    Rinse- Osage
    Aftershave- Brut
    Lotion- Kiehl's
    Cologne- TSD Brut type

Today, with piles of quality SE blades finally in hand, marks my second day of single edge mania. SE razors have gradually worked their way to the top of my preferences, so I thought it would be time to celebrate them. Yesterday was all about chubby bakelite handles, but my pictures didn't read well, so I will have to retake them and retroactively post them. But back to today. I love the Micromatic family of razors. This one is an interesting version due to its unusual bakelite tip. Other than that feature, it is a standard, sans eye, bullet tip MM. Therefore, a solid, reasonably mild shaver. I am on the fence regarding the blue PALs. Although they produce an excellent shave, they are a scooch tuggy. Just tuggy enough to be a deal breaker. I will give it a second shave before I form a solid opinion, but at this point, not looking good.
The brush was freshly knotted last night, and today was it's maiden voyage. Man, I love these synthetic knots. I had to open the hole up on this brush a few mm to get it to fit, but it came out great. I have to get some enamel paint for the lettering before I can say it's finished, but shaving with it is a pleasure, so I am counting it in the win column.
Finally, Brut. I love it. The gigantic bottle in the picture was an antique store score a couple weeks ago. It is comically large, and was sadly empty when I bought it. Still worth every penny.
