  3. Planned SOTD for January 20, 2015

I plan to continue with my current set up, as it is giving me great results. For the last few shaves, I have included an alum block in my post-shave, and it has improved the shave.

    Enjoy your tiwesdæg!

  4. Day 22 of 30. Another DFS+, with no weepers, only minor irritation, and an overall brisk menthol / Eucalyptus / Witch Hazel feel. I really like the results. It's starting to get to the automatic not thinking too much stage.... I guess the goal for the 30 day program.

    January 20, 2015

Prep: Hot shower. Axe Shield Face Wash
    Razor: RazoRock Stealth Slant
    Blade: Rapira Swedish Supersteel
    Brush: Omega Pro 49
    Lather: Stirling Coconut
    Post: Alum.Thayers Lavender WH.
    Aftershave: Stephan Island Lime
Stirling Soap is a soap I neglected in 2014. My friend Omar reminded me that I hadn't use it in some time. Top notch glide, cushion and skincare! Did I mention the scent? Excellent! The Coconut is a great summer scent.
    Go out and get it!

  6. 1/20/15 - #30DayChallenge reset shave #13

Prep: warm wash and cornhusker's lotion
    Lather: Klar's Kabinett
    Brush: Vie-Long 13061M
    Razor: Weber PH
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    Post: Ogallala Bay Rum

Another 2 pass SAS. Less than 10 minutes from start of prep to putting up the gear. The shave is definitely not BBS, but yesterday's wasn't either and I forgot about any stray stubble after I headed to work. I didn't think that I had any more of a shadow by the end of the day than I do when I have a concentrated 3 or 4 pass shave and BBS results, so this might just work for my daily work week shave. I honestly think I could stick with the Weber as the one and only razor as it always delivers, however, I am certainly happy that I don't need to place myself in such a false dilemma!
  7. 1/20/2015 30 Day - Shave # 20

    Prep - Hot Shower
    Razor - Mongoose Satin B2
    Blade - Kai Mild (2)
Brush - Rubberset 400 with WSP HMW
    Lather - Soap Commander Confidence
Post - Witch Hazel and CC Bay Rum AS

I rushed thru a 3 pass shave this morning. Results were DFS not as good as my usual. I need to learn to slow down or at least wake up earlier.
  8. 1/20/15 - BSG - RESET Day 15

Prep - Hot Shower, towel soak
    Brush - Omega 48
    Soap - Proraso Green
    Razor - '46/'47 Aristocrat
    Blade - Voskhod (3)
    Post - Clubman

Day 3 on the Voskhod and it feels like it's getting smoother by the day. This blade started a bit rough on day 1 and has gotten better. We'll see what the next one does starting tomorrow. Today I had a good 2 pass near DFS with a minor cleanup of the neck. Getting pretty common so no complaints.

One old timer saying goodbye to another. The '46 Aristocrat bidding the '47 Superspeed farewell....but only for a few weeks. The SS is in the box headed for replating. Gonna come home all shiny and new!

1 WTG, 1 XTG, and 1 ATG(except neck). Very nice again.
  10. I think so.

Your picture had me do a triple check, I like the glass effect. Nicely done.
  11. Thanks, it turned out better than I had hoped.
  12. Day 17 Lab Report - 30 DAY RULE with a Slim

I tried the Slim on Nine. It worked out really well.

After a couple of weeks of trying to find settings, I am all the way through the dial. Last nights shave was one of the best. My Slim, coupled with the Personna blades probably could do DFS on 1. It was a super close 2 pass plus DFS last night. I was afraid that the wide open blade would irritate my face, but to my surprise, all was good. The Alum block indication was tha my pressure was correct. Setting nine might be too much for some other blades, but it worked here. I am employing buffing strokes for the chin in the first pass, and I think it is paying off. No soreness on the neck area either. Blade angle discipline and riding the razor cap were the keys here. But as others have noted. Not overthinking and just shaving was the wash to go here.

And Brut is always a treat!
  13. I think Derby is way better than people think...are you surprised by the combo after almost three weeks?
    Spit_Fire likes this.
  14. Yes, I am a little surprised about how well this setup is performing as a daily routine. I was nervous about ending up with a lot of razor burn.

  15. Day 16
    Prep: None
Brush: Van Der Hagen (the one from the premium kit)
    Soap: Van Der Hagen Luxury
    Blade: Hill Country (rebranded Personna)
    Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
Post: Gillette Fusion ProSeries Intense Cooling Aftershave Lotion

I know I know...prep is one of the most important things to insure a good shave, but there's something about splashing cold water on after a hot day. Not at smooth as yesterday but I couldn't tell a difference from the shaves I used hot water and various other things to prep before shaving. The convenience factor is awesome and I might start shaving before and after work now. Other than these damn lathering inconsistencies I'd say things are going great.

  16. 01/20 – Day 20 of the 30 Day Rule - Shave #17 with the Weishi

Objective: Survive a month using low end entry level products.

    • Razor: Weishi 9306/Microtouch One

Today’s Results: New blade and not a great shave today. Irritation and a weeper. Maybe tomorrow will be better now that it’s broken in.
  17. If it first you don't succeed try again :)
    WhiskerWhacker and Jostalli like this.
  18. Day 17 - Thirty Days with Merkur 34c (Jan 1-Feb 4 [No shave on Saturdays]) BSG 1-20-2015

  19. Planned Shave for January 21, 2015

On day 20 of my 30-day journey, I plan to continue using my Mongoose razor, Feather Pro blade, and Kent BK4 brush. This kit provides some of the most consistent and best shaves I've ever had. Over the last few days, I've rediscovered the benefits of using alum in my post shave routine.

I've enjoyed seeing all the creative SOTD photos this month from everyone! Have a great wōdnesdæg!
