Superb, easy, thick, cushioning lather. I loaded a new Polsilver SI in the Red Tip. Excellent, smooth, close, nick free shave. I finished with Country Club Sweet Water. I really wish Larry hadn’t decided to drop the “Original” and “Classic” lines of CRSW. The “Original” had moved into my Top 5 Soaps. I am just glad I just started my 2nd jar last week. Bob

Mondays shave. Best shave ever!!! I was a bit apprehensive about today's shave. Would these fantastic new Russian blades work well with my favourite razor? Yes they sure did. Had a wonderful comfortable smooth shave. Made all the better with a little menthol from the Proraso pre shave. What a great product that is. But, it's my day off, so I had the time. The EJ89 saved the shave for a rating of Decent -. If I could get this close with just the straight, I'd be ecstatic. I wouldn't wear it to a job interview, but I'd be happy with it as an everyday shave.
SOTD 01/26/2015 ~ Mühle R89 Jet. ~ Mühle aloe shaving cream face lathered with the Silvertip badger brush. ~ Woodland aftershave soother by Bath & Body Works. A rare three pass shave for me creating the rare BBS with the Jet. She's dirty and needing a new blade but I feel that it can be pushed a bit do to her forgiveness. This Silvertip brush (TGN knot in an Opal handle) is much bigger than it appears in this photograph. The bloom is beautiful! I really should have bowl lathered but I've gotten kind of used to face lathering. Soft, soft, soft. The Mühle shaving cream creates a massive lather that has superior slickness and post feel. Bath & Body Works discontinued this Woodland scent several years ago and it's a shame. This is the last of the soap, lotion and aftershave from somewhere around the year 2000.Thankfully I have around 90% left due to the fact that I have about a million other aftershaves.
I've always wanted a bowl like that for lathering. What are they called, and where do you suggest I find one? Thanks in advance.

MONDAY A Rare DE Shave! After spending some time this morning reading a TSD thread on the Mühle R41, I decided to unleash he beast for this morning's shave. Three passes using a light touch yielded a very close, smooth face—darn near BBS territory. And yes, using a DE razor seems incredibly easier after many weeks of consecutive straight razor shaves. Faster as well. As enjoyable? Tough to say as I truly do enjoy and look forward to the whole SR ritual and process. But as a fallback option, using the R41 is no slouch in allowing me to achieve a great, smooth shave. Actually I don't have a clue of what are they called, but I can say that I bought it from a touristic gift store in my hometown in Turkey. They're hand made ceramic bowls and there are lots of color variations of these bowls. It can be hard to find one in the States.

Monday's Shave Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap Music: Mississippi Delta Blues mix Lather: Arko Brush: Omega 13522 Razor: Van der Hagen TTO Blade: Shark Super Stainless Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm, Pinaud Clubman Pretty good shave today. Occurred to me that I'm down to my last Shark and that I hadn't tried one in the VdH yet. Decided to try a 2 pass shave today since yesterday's shave was so good and the stubble seemed extra light today. Wish I had gone for the full 3 passes, I feel it would have ended up a much better shave. I think Shark makes the short list for blades I might need to buy in bulk.
