This is from a good shave web site, not a forum. some seem to think Tabac smells like tobacco. I wonder why they named it Tabac. Similarly, Tabac Shaving Soap is another shaving soap that is very popular and widely available but only in a single scent. Although it has a reputation of a top-shelf performer, it’s tobacco flower scent usually gets a “love it or hate it” reaction.
I concur. It is certainly more woodsy—particularly CEDAR to my olfactory senses... Most 'cavendish' scents I would qualify as 'tobacco-scented'...
Oh, how could I forget...Straight Razor Designs - Opus X. Opus X - Tobacco Absolute - Nicotania tabacum, Bulgarian, Solvent extracted, Leaves. This One is something Special. This one is next on my tobacco list. I remember reading about it on here recently.
I got this from the internet, so it must be true..... Tabac by Maurer & Wirtz is a Aromatic Fougere fragrance for men. Tabac was launched in 1959. Top notes are aldehydes, lavender, neroli, bergamot and lemon; middle notes are carnation, sandalwood, orris root, jasmine, rose and pine tree needles; base notes are tonka bean, amber, musk, vanilla, oakmoss and tobacco.
Tabac® = Top notes: "grandma's closet, her old weathered shawl, her dusty potpourri bowl; base notes: Funeral home lobby, mothballs, Glade™'Old Boudoir' bathroom candle.
Please let us know what you think of the scents as well as their performance! I hope they work well for you. D
JR...this one is also,on my radar! I have heard really good things and the scent sounds incredible. D
I've checked that stuff out. Apparently, the whiskey soap doesn't smell like whiskey, it's more like cedar. "Whiskey" is more of a state of mind than anything else, it seems. The packaging (which is pretty cool, if irrelevant) has changed too.
Thanks for the update. I just saw a youtube review that described the scent as cedar with some tobacco notes. That stuff has some hefty price tags...i laughed when I say $5 dollar matches...not sure what that's all about.
I've used Wickham's "Sweet Tobacco" the past 2 shaves. The soap is terrific and is almost like a cream it's so soft. The scent, however, is so faint, I can't pick up tobacco at all. So, I've been firing up a Marlboro Red during each shave and that does the trick.
It's funny you mentioned smoking during the shave in order to enhance the scent and Tobacco experience. I actually have a room spray that was a gift, and will use for tomorrow's Tobacco Tuesday. Here is a pic of my Planned shave.
Thanks for the feedback...I was just playing around in photoshop and wanted something warm. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's shave and many Tobacco Tuesday's to follow.
