1/29/2015 Prep: Hot shower with Nivea Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: Cobra, CMON Filarmonica Doble Temple straight razor Blade: Feather Professional Light (13) Brush: Turkish #6 Soap: Tabac After: Home made ASB, Tabac after shave Cologne: Tabac EDC Another Darn Fine Shave. The #6 whipped up the Tabac into a thick and rich lather. The Cobra and the Fily did their job easily. The Tabac AS and EDC will have me smelling good for the rest of the day. Have a blessed day!
That's nice. That's some of the stuff I can't try. Alcoholic aftershaves. It's not a big problem but it sucks a bit =P
Thursday Soap: Mystic Water sensitive Brush: Semogue boar Razor: Feather AS-D2 Blades: Kai After: Cold rinse, CeraVe lotion The Mystic Water sensitive soap contains herbal ingredients that seem to work as advertised to sooth sensitive skin. Good performance. My shave was smooth and my face feels great.
Your SOTD photos are always great, and I look forward to seeing them every day. Hope you have a replacement soon.
SoTD for Thursday January 29, SINGLEMANIA: rise of the injectors Pre- Clove Balsam PSO Soap- la Pere Lucien Brush- Ever Ready w synthetic knot Razor- schick injector g8 Blade- Personna Rinse-Osage Aftershave- vintage Woodbury Lotion- Kiehl's Cologne- vintage Christian Dior Eau Sauvage I was going to end SINGLEMANIA today, but I realized I have not done any injectors. And while injector razors are certainly their own category, they are single edged. And SINGLEMANIA is a celebration of all things Single Edge. So here we are. I decided to go with a Schick Ever Sharp G8 today. I like all the early series Schick injectors, and for me, the G8 is the pinnacle of the pre-hydro models. A lot of early injectors are clog prone. I don't get that with the G8. Like pretty much all the bakelite injectors, it has a unique feel in terms of its balance. These razors are lightweight, but still seem substantial. I truly feel that they are beautiful pieces of near perfect 0 design. Totally unlike any of its contemporaries then, and now. Once you are locked in to the correct angle, these little razors are capable of giving fantastic close, smooth shaves. Today was no exception. With a modern Personna blade loaded, I easily achieved a fast two pass BBS. I did do a third XTG neck pass, but it was more for security than necessity. When I was mostly done with my shave I recalled that I recently got a lot with some vintage injector blades that are considered excellent. Chrome something or other? I will have to dig them out. After the unmitigated success of my vintage Gem Super Stainless, I am more than willing to try them out. I guess that makes tomorrow an injector day also. Looks like SINGLEMANIA may stick around for a few days yet!
Been having a good shaving week. This morning's shave involved Old Spice Fresh Limes shave cream, Edwin Jagger DE87 razor with Astra SP blade, Vulfix 1000A badger brush. Post-shave was cold water, Thayer's Witch Hazel, followed by Ogallala Limes & Peppercorns aftershave.
Shave of the day Pre- Hot shower, Bulldog Original face wash Soap/cream- How to grow a mustache Lo Haiku shaving soap Brush- Plisson synthetic Razor- Gillette Slim adjustable(5) Blade- LADAS(3) Post- Cold water rinse, Alum block, Pinaud Clubman Vanilla aftershave lotion and Nivea sensitive aftershave balm Nice shave today, I think I have figured out the water/soap ratio =) it likes a little more soap for a denser lather. Got a thin first lather, I reloaded and relathered and tried less water. I got a nice shave, better than the last. The LADAS was nice on a third shave, I usually never use a blade more than twice, by I gave this a try =) it went well but I've tossed it now. I won't attempt a fourth shave.

29 Jan 2015 Soap - Tabac Brush - WD Silvertip 24/50 Razor - L3 Superspeed Flair tip Blade - Super max (1 stroke), Astra SP (1) AS - Old Spice Well I tried the supermax in my superspeed, lasted 1 stroke. Awful, right to blade bank, for me terrible blade. Did get a DFS with my Astra SP. I have 1 more new Supermax blade, if anyone wants it shoot me a PM with address and it's yours.
Fantastic Justin! You make some really good points, probably should've done a 2 pass shave because of your shave yesterday. I liked how you didn't shave over the already irritated area below your Adams apple. The Nicea sensitive cream is excellent. I use aftershave with the balm instead of the jojoba. Thanks for vlogging your SOTD.
