Saturday's Nivea Men's Face Wash Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Badger Eversharp Schick I-1 NOS Gillette Platinum Plus Injector Blade CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Rose Petal WH Pinaud Lilac Vegetal The Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Badger Brush. Two passes with my Eversharp Schick I-1 and a NOS Gillette Platinum Plus Injector Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal Petal WH and then Pinaud Lilac Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Today was one of those days where you don't really need to shave, but since you already have all of the gear out, you might as well... I was bowl lathering the Cold River Soap Works "Paradise" soap, and was quite impressed with the performance as well as scent. It reminds me of the beach and I can pick up some subtle notes of coconut as well. The bar has been raised, and if you haven't tried some of the CRSW Select line, you need to do yourself a favor and get some. If you try it, be prepared to have it spoil your interest in using some of your other soaps. This soap carries a premium price tag, but I in my opinion you're paying for what you get, because this is good stuff. I'm looking forward to an entertaining Super Bowl, and will be spending some time with the family. Have a good one Gents...
Day 26 - Thirty Days with Merkur 34c (Jan 1-Feb 4 [No shave on Saturdays]) BSG 1-30-2015 Hot Shower and Prep - Neutrogena Men Invigorating Face Wash Razor Merkur 34c Blade Astra SP (2) Brush - Plisson Synthetic Lather - Proraso Green Post - Warm water rinse, Maggard Razor Alum, wait 30 seconds then cool water rinse, WH, RazoRock Problem Solver Lime AS Splash & Gold Bond Ultimate Men's Essentials A great 3 pass shave for a very nice BBS
My first shave , and possibly the razor's first shave ( da bay seller thought it hadn't been used) with this GEM, or should I say EverReady 1914 Blade: PAL blue carbon Cream: Proraso green A/S Nivea balm with one drop mbomb The shave was as good as the month of Micromatic Clog Pruf! The razor is more aggressive than the mmcp, but a great shave with minor irritation, and NO weepers. I really like the auditory feedback from these single edge razors!
SOTD - Friday, January 30, 2015 Hot shower Prep: Homemade PSO Brush: Plisson/L'Occitane synthetic Soap: MWF Razor: Gillette Slim (5) Blade: Voskhod (2) Aftershave: Clubman Special Reserve
For my shave tomorrow morning: Saturday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Dorco day 5 Ingram Blue SC Gold Bond Moisturizer Proraso Green AS Fahrenheit EdT Egypt produces some darned good creams and the Ingram Blue is one of them. It's almost exactly like the original version from the UK with the same nice, minty, fresh scent and it gives super-rich lather which is very easy to work up. Its menthol effect is somewhat stronger than the UK version, however. I'll go again with the Gold Bond and Proraso Green balm and aftershave for additional cooling and soothing. My Dorco blade seems to be winding down a bit but I think I could get a couple more shaves from it. Have a great weekend, folks!
It should Gary...lol. I picked it from the nationwide tourbox and paired it with a high mountain badger from WD. The end result has been fantastic. Very good brush for face lathering. Thanks for the donation.
Don, I really like those wooden bowls such as the one you have pictured in your SOTD shot. I picked one up from amazon and after using it for a while, went back and ordered 3 more.... You can see a trio of them in some of my recent shots...
I discovered that I don't like having to rush a shave now. I'll either blow the shave off rather than rush a good shave. With that said, I have been traveling this week and shaving with my travel set is just ok. Missing my Ikon 102 for sure. Today was the Merkur travel double edge safety razor, Yellow Gillette 7 o'clock blades, Parker travel brush, Prorasso Eucalyptus and Menthol cream. Finished everything off with a Shave Den Milk (which is the best post shave ever!) Not super happy with the brush as it sheds - a lot! But the Merkur travel razor does surprisingly well.
I wanted to take this space to say thank you to Jeff aka @crackstar each and every week Jeff makes sure this thread is created. Thanks Jeff! Kerry
I like them too, Kevin. They look great and are fairly inexpensive on amazon. My only complaint is that a puck of Mitchell's Wool Fat is just slightly too tall for the lid to fit tightly. I'm 4 or 5 lathers into the puck now, and it will take a couple of more before it fits. BTW, I followed you lead of treating mine inside and out with a few coats of Renaissance Wax for improved shine and water resistance. Great idea... thanks!

SOTD = Saturday, 1/31/15 RAZOR: '65 Slim (7, 3) ($1 estate sale find) BLADE: Rapira Lux Platinum (or is that Flux Capacitor?) BRUSH: WD Silvertip w/butterscotch handle SOAP: Maggard Limes & Bergamot AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush (yes, I'm addicted) New Rapira blade in the Slim starting tomorrow morning. Can't decide on these blades. I'm finding the Rapira smooth, but doesn't last as long as the Astra SP and, as I've said before, not as close. I don't think it's as sharp...too much "touch up" needed. I think they may be a lost cause for me. I've got a sampler of a few other blades on its way. Found out this morning (Friday) that you don't go straight outside to shovel the drive (15 degrees) right after putting on the super-menthol AS. Damn, talk about cold!
SATURDAY Evening Shave for Tomorrow After a long crazy day back in the office after a 2-day sickness, I was beat & ready for a peaceful, pampering evening shave. Took my 'favorite' razor, my 'new' old brush, some old reliable MWF and had a very relaxing 3-4 pass shave—no rush, no hurrying…..ahhhhhhhh! One thing I discovered since I started growing my mustache back: being sick with a bad head cold & trying to maintain a 'handlebar-in-training' mustache is a pain and a challenge. Headcold & handlebar…..wax is optional. Have a great Saturday, all!
January 30 (Day 29) Pre: Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser Razor: Mongoose Blade: Feather Professional (day 5) Brush: Kent BK4 silvertip Lather: Stirling Naked and Smooth soap plus a few bits of leftover soap & glycerin Shave: Two-pass plus touch-ups Post: Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, and unrefined shea butter Result: Using the Mongoose for 30 days has been a pleasant surprise for me. I expected it to be a very aggressive razor, but it is actually quite mild and predictable, especially after the third day on a Feather Pro blade. The handle has plenty of grip, even with wet fingers. All in all, it is a fun razor to use. My friends at work looked at me like I was shaving with a chainsaw when I showed them my SOTD photos. Little do they know... I plan to conclude my 30-day run tomorrow (Saturday). That will give me plenty of time on Sunday to shave for the first time in several months with my Feather Artist Club razor loaded with a Feather Pro blade. I will need the extra time, as I expect to be more challenged with this set up. I'm de-stinking my new two-band silvertip brush right now in preparation for the changover. I'm even gonna start out with my tame six-day-old Feather Pro blade. A big thanks to @Bama Samurai for hosting the January adventure. He rolls out the welcome mat to everyone! I have thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with everyone's exploits. It has been a fun ride, and you guys are great! I hope to catch you all over in the February 30-day rule/focus thread!

Lol my hair growth is ridiculous. I like to keep it short due to low maintenace and I hate cowlicks. My facial hair growth seems to be on steroids too. I can get a BBS on the first of the month only to look like Rick Ruben by the 15th. All the reasons to shavr more often thanks for viewing
