I've had similar results with my 1904. I think it's a great looking razor, but it is very mild. I like the razor, but don't seem to get a really close shave.

Mastro Livi CarboInox, 6/8 Full Hollow, Barber's Notch

A memorable shave. A stunning beautiful straight razor, a magnificent soap, a fabulous brush, a luxurious aftershave. I wanted the best for the first shave in which I used this superior, stunning, amazing and beautiful Mastro Livi CarboInox straight razor. I love Mastro Livi Carbon Damascus touch and thanks to this razor, which point is made of stainless steel, I discovered a new pleasure in shaving. The blade is velvety and smooth - like every Mastro Livi carbon damascus steel is - while the point becomes a little more aggressive - because of stainless steel - very effective is some particular spots of the face. A superior straight razor, just another proof of the craftsmanship, talent, art and skill of this remarkable Italian artisan, a genius in making straight razors, both in performance and beauty!
    • Pre-Shave: Myrsol Emulsión

Auch von mir - ich bin mit diese Seife nicht vertraut. Aber sicher Du eine angenehme Rasur hattest. (Tolles Bild, wie immer!) ;) :)

Today's shave, like most of my shaves, was an experiment. Today's experiment was to see if I could get a different scent on each pass. First pass was plain LPL, second was LPL with a touch of TOBS Rose, and third was LPL with TOBS Rose and Tobs Lavender. This does take a little work as you have to work in the additional cream and water before each pass, but it was well worth it. It was great having the scent change each pass and I ended up with a very nice shave.

With the right blade, I get BBS results in 3 passes. The Big Ben just isn't that blade for me, in this razor.

Super Bowl Sunday! I'm going to give a clue as to my age and tell everyone that the first Super Bowl I watched had players named Joe, Johnny, Earl, Emersoon and Tom, last names were Namath, Unitas, Morrall, Boozer and Matte. I wished they still played them in the afternoon
This morning's shave was a sweet one

    2/1/15 - Blade Focus February/Face Lather February

Prep: face wash and Cornhusker's Lotion
    Lather: sample of B&M Solstice
    Brush: Omega 10066
    Razor: Weber PH
    Blade: Derby Extra (1)
    Post: Proraso Green aftershave lotion

This month I am focusing on blades in my Weber PH. First up is a Derby extra. I palm stropped the blade 30X per edge before inserting it in the razor - yep added maybe a minute to prep. I also did the same after the shave. This was a first use of the B&M sample and it was okay. Its hard to get enough soap on my face with the small sample wedge, so I had to add soap between each pass. Otherwise it was just fine. 3 pass shave and I have a SAS - not the best, but not the worst.

Day 1 of February Focus Challenge
2 Things. 1. I am focusing on my 1966 3rd quarter Slim Adjustable. 2. Using until it's gone my RR XXX and loading like I hate it. Which isn't too far from the truth. It's an OK soap for me. Lathers fine, cushion and slickness is lacking especially compared to MWF..again for me.
    Soap - RR XXX
    Brush - Vulfix 660S Medium
    Razor - L3 Slim Adjustable
    Blade - Personna 74* (5)
    AS - M&L Florida Water

Good shave overall. Finishing fighting off a cold, so my upper lip is not as close due to soreness from cold so I have been treading very lightly in that area. Again the XXX performed OK. I have to admit, I got sucked into the hype when it was finally back in stock in Oct/Nov, it works, but for me there are much better soaps in my den. Also coming to realize that the Vulfix, which is a very good brush, is just a little too floppy for my tastes. It is soft and whips up lathers just fine, but for me not even close to my WD in overall performance. The Personna 74* continues to impress and fells like brand new still. Finished off with the Florida Water...refreshing.

    Prep - Hot Shower
    Razor - Mongoose Satin B2
    Blade – Feather Pro (1)
    Brush – Every-Ready 100T with TGN Finest
Lather – Strop Shoppe SE Baker Street
Post - Witch Hazel, Dove AS balm and CC Sandalwood AS

The focus for this month will be the evaluation of blades available for the Mongoose Razor. I have on hand the Feather Pro, Feather Guard, Kai Captain Sharpblade, and Feather Super Pro. The first 3 blades have the same blade exposure. The Super Pro has more blade exposure thus should make the razor more aggressive. I will be rotating brushes and soaps throughout the month.

The Ever-Ready brush used today is one that I restored late last year. I had forgotten how nice this brush is to use. The Strop Shoppe proved very easy to lather proving to be very slick with good cushion.

The Feather Pro felt much sharper than the Kai Milds I used last month. Today’s shave was 2 passes with touch ups around my chin yielding a near BBS shave with no irritation or weepers.
