Very plainly and simply - here are my products for tomorrow. Menthol Monday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/new SuperMax Blue Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Aqua Velva Ice Blue AS Fahrenheit EdT Not as bone-chilling as the other set-ups I usually select for a Menthol Monday Shave but still bone-chilling enough. It's going to be extremely uncomfortably cold here tomorrow so I feel that a Glacial soap might be a bit too much, but the MITA is very generous with its menthol effect and does it ever lather beautifully. The Gold Bond moisturizer is surprisingly cold as well, and once again the Aqua Velva has proven itself to be an aftershave which is necessary in my rotation at all times. Out with the Dorco, in with a new SuperMax Blue.
Monday's Nivea Men's Face Wash Col. Conk Lime Shave Soap Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Edwin Jagger DE89 Personna Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Aqua Velva The EJ DE89 is getting some much needed love this week after taking the backseat to vintage razors for over a year. It is an excellent shaver. The Col. Conk Lime Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC1 Silver Tip Brush. Two passes with my Edwin Jagger DE89 and a Personna Stainless Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
SOTD-to-Be: Menthol Monday: 2-2-15 Razor: '65 Slim (9 XTG, 6 ATG) Blade: Rapira Lux Platinum (Shave #3) Brush: Whipped Dog Silvertip Soap: Maggard Orange Menthol AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush After Saturday's successful 2-pass DFS and Sunday's even better 2-pass DFS/BBS (I'm not sure on these ratings), I'm encouraged by both the Slim and the Rapira blades. I've historically been using the Slim on lower settings requiring much re-working, much irritation and much disdain for the razor. At the higher setting the Slim is a different girl and boy is she sweet! As for the Rapira, I guess it's true that some blades match better with certain razors. In my NEW the Rapira was OK at best, but in the Slim it's a smoother replacement for my Astra SP's.

2/2/15 Prep: warm wash Lather: TSD Grey Vetiver type Brush: Vie-Long 13061M Razor: Weber PH Blade: Derby Extra (2) Post: Proraso green Decent 3 pass shave. Perhaps my standards and gotten higher, but the Derby just doesn't shave as close with this razor. I used my Proraso green aftershave, the only mentholish product I can use that doesn't smell like cat pee to my nose.

PSO: Palmer's oil brush: Frank Shaving badger soap: Arko cream - Cool razor: Shake Sharp blade: Ladas (6 ... or ... 3b) finish: tuxxdk 's DIY AS splash >here< The sixth shave on the Ladas was still plenty sharp and smooth. The end of the second pass was not as overall close as yesterday, but quite nice and without irritation. However, I had to clean up and chase the baby out of the corners. I'm left wondering if the blade, though still smooth, was leaving a little in its wake. On the other hand, I could have flaked out (... again!) and just missed some areas. Anyway... cleanup successful and another BBS. Gotta love it! I've found that I rather prefer soaps to creams. I keep my soaps on the top of the cabinet where SWMBO can see them and monitor against their growth. However, I remembered that I have some very nice creams and dug the Arko Cool out of the drawer. What great stuff! Though "Cool" describes the scent, it does not give a chill that I could feel. Still, it is a smooth, creamy, slicky lather. Can you really go wrong with anything Arko? Heck no, says I! The biggest discovery of today's shave may be the Palmer's oil. I've used it plenty of times before, alternating between it and Shave Secret. However, yesterday was a bit different. Rather than following the Shave Seceret advice of only five drops, I spazzed a small squirt of Palmer's into my palm. Rather than wasting it, I slapped it across my face and rubbed the excess onto my arms where it might do some benefit. My face wasn't super oily, but certainly quite oilier than my Shave Secret norm. I theorized that extra oil may have added to the creamy-silky feel at the end of yesterday's shave, so I tested it today. I didn't count drops, but the small puddle in my palm was more nickel sized than dime. I worried just a little that too much oil might ruin my lather. Unfounded fears... my skin once again had a pre-AS creamy-silky feel... sort of like I had already applied a balm. I topped with tuxxdx's DIY splash and... MAN!... that is one womdigious shave! I wonder how the extra oil will work with the FaTip tomorrow!
Monday's Shave Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap Lather: Arko Brush: Omega 13522 Razor: '46 - '50 Gillette Heavy Gold Tech Blade: store brand Israeli Personna Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm Scent: Pinaud Clubman Day number 2 for the store brand Personna blade and it was a quick turnaround between an overtime shift last night and switching to days this morning. 2 1/2 passes to a DFS with very little irritation. LPL Sputnik Blade Slim Adjustable 2 passes today resulted in a very nice shave and a wonderful feeling on my face.
One Pass on a Snow day Just a quick pass with der Vorschlaghammer after shoveling eight more inches of snow this morning. I shoveled six inches before the Super Bowl last night. I’m going to have to shovel one more time after the plow comes and buries my driveway. Ferox is one of my favorites, and it rewarded me again with great lather, scent, and protection. 02/02/15 Prep - Hot Shower Razor - Mongoose Satin B2 Blade – Feather Pro (2) Brush – Rudy Vey Faux Briar with Shavemac Finest 26mm/52mm Lather – Catie's Bubbles Santal Sensuelle Post - Witch Hazel and CC Sandalwood AS Today's shave was the first time I have used this brush. The brush has a huge amount of backbone but is so soft. Catie's Bubbles proved to be very slick and easy to lather. Very nice 2 pass shave this morning with touch ups around my chin. First pass was ATG with the second pass XTG was possible because of the blade's sharpness. Finished up with the Captian's Choice Sandalwood AS. Love the scent but I wish it were stronger.
