Nice shave Bruce! I think the Muhle R41/T2 w/Crystal works great. How did it go for you?

The shave was great Phil! I was inspired by your post showing your R41/T2 the other day and I almost always use the Crystals so, I gave them all a go this morning. The R41 always delivers a really close two pass shave. I usually do a third ATG pass on my neck but that's all that is needed with this razor. A great razor and blade combo and the Sabi T2 handle delivers the needed heft and grip to provide the control for the R41's aggressive blade geometry. I hope yours was a pleasent as mine; if so...we're both "walkin' in tall cotton"! :D

Yes, that combo works great and will be used more often. I plan on using that combo until I feel the need to change the blade. Using the razor daily with thick moist lather is very efficient. I feel like 1 pass and a touch-up is sufficient.

    FRIDAY
    Evening shave for Tomorrow
I decided to mix it up tonight and break out a DE razor for a change: a fine CADET 3-piece that provides a comfortable, relatively mild shaving experience.
Since my evening shaves are rather leisurely-paced, doing 3-passes plus some lengthy touch-up time is welcomed. The PP soap 'Oak Moss & Sage' lather is quite nice, but the scent is…different. Not bad, just not my favorite scent. Normally, I'm all over herbal & 'mossy' scents, but I have a difficult time warming up to this particular soap scent. This is probably why it does not appear that often in the daily rotation of soaps. All & all, though, a DFS!

    Have a blessed Friday, everyone!

    February 5 (day 5)

    Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser
    Feather Artist Club razor
    Feather Professional blade (day 4)
    Two-band silvertip
Stirling Naked and Smooth soap plus a few bits of leftover soap & glycerin
    Two-passes - WTG and XTG
Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, & unrefined shea butter

My February goal is a close and comfortable two- or three-pass shave with this set up. Today's shave was not as good as yesterday. I had to break out the styptic for weepers on my upper lip and chin. I hurried through the shave, so lesson learned.

I hope you all are well. Apologies for the late post.

I went with Test Depth again and I got another smooth easy shave. I didn't load the brush enough before the first pass, so I had to reload. I think I detected the water lily note in the scent a little more today. I finished with Fine Platinum and I had more sting than yesterday. It could just be the extra alcohol in Fine, or maybe I went more quickly.
    Prep: Proraso White
    Soap: Reef Point Test Depth
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Der Vorschlaghammer
    Blade: Voskhod

hot water wash with dove+ care
    Oscar11/ omega boar
    Pyrate' cove coconut
    Coates lime
    Muhle r41
    persona lab(3)
    ICED Florida water(atomized)
today's shave started poorly. I made lather with PC coconut, nice lather,I thought. two strokes in, the lather began dissipating.
    what to do?
    inspiration struck
I grabbed my mixing bowl, then some Coates lime.
I put the lime in the coconut.
    and mixed it all up
I put the lime in the coconut
    and put them both together.
that fixed my problem. three passes, nice close shave.I finished with iced, atomized Florida water.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

    Scent: Pinaud Clubman

Another great shave today. Astra SP goes on the short list for blades. The KMF was a nice change of pace, especially since this was the first time I used it with a brush.

    PSO: Palmer's oil
    lather: MWF
    brush: Omega 31064
    blade: Astra SP (2)
    razor: Muhle R41 2013
finish: tuxxdk 's fantastic DIY AS splash >here<

Shave #2 on my new R41. Yep, still a little easier to handle than the FaTip. Still tweaking in "the touch," though. Today's BBS was better than yesterday, but still a wee bit scrapey. Not so scrapey that I needed Kevin's balm, so that's progress!

I used about a quarter sized puddle of Palmer's oil as PSO. I noticed neither "creamy-silky" nor "lightly waxed" at the end, just good ol' "feels like a little bit of something" nice. I tend to get that from MWF alone, so I am not sure about the PSO effect of today's shave. (NOTE TO SELF: Try the Palmer's + MWF with a milder razor.)

On the brush side, I notice my growing affection for the Omega 31064. I still say that the Omega 10098 is one of the best shaving brush values currently available and it is a lather cannon! However, the 31064 is a mighty beefy brush, just a step or two down in size from the 10098. It may load more soap than my Semogue. My 31064 is nicely broken in, but has not fanned like the Semogue 1250. I think its narrower shape delivers the lather more precisely. I like that.

Huh... I just realized that I have never compared (brush + soap) performance combos. I'm not sure I have the energy for the recordkeeping!
