I am really surprised to hear that. You said you didn't like it, but didn't give any reason. Was it the scent? Do you only like hard soaps? Problem lathering? Not slick enough?

What are the better soaps you refer to? Why are they better? We each have our own preferences, and you are certainly entitled to not like Catie's. But it is more helpful if you let us know where you are coming from if you dismiss a product by calling it "hype".

BTW, I also volunteer to take that mediocre soap off your hands so you don't have to deal with it anymore :)

Catie's bubbles sounds nice. I'm very easy to impress though it must be the name. Very CATCHY

Ok, since a couple of you question why I did not like it and I respect your opinions, I used it again this morning. I have to say I have egg on my face! It was a totally different experience today. It lathered up very easily and fast. I really liked the scent and the lather was thick ( a little too thick for my taste) so I added water but I found it would go the other way easily. I think it is a matter of dialing in the amount of water as I have found to be true with many soaps. It is a very soft soap and I love that about it. I will continue to use it and see what the next shave brings. I like to lather up the brush with a thick lather with little water, then wet my face really good and go to it. That did not work as well as I would have liked so I used my scuttle to get it right

Once you get a feel for how to dial in the soap to water ratio, I've found it easy to face lather as well.

I always try to give a soap a couple of tries just to learn the proper amount of water etcetera.

I have tried klar kabinett 2 times, I think it's good and I love the Rose scent. But I'm pretty sure I can make the lather better =D

I'm glad you tried it again and liked it better =) but damn, here I thought I was gonna get a late birthday gift hahaha

You need to try Rose of Bulgaria. It is my absolute favorite Rose based on scent. For lather it is only O.K., but the scent is wonderful.

It took me a couple of shaves to get the water right too. I am glad you went back. Now, go pull one of your favorite Cuban's out and treat yourself!!

It's to bad the lather is just ok, but one can always boost it =P I really wanna try some day

With so many no buys going on already this years here might actually not be a need/interest in a NBJ this year :)

So for those who are sensitive to drying soaps, how drying is Caties Bubbles? Most coconut oil based soaps dry my skin. But since I keep hearing great things about this soap maker, it makes me want to take a chance.

For me, post shave face moisturization is the one area that Catie’s doesn't excel. I much prefer the soaps with shea butter and lanolin for that (e.g. Cold River Soap Works Select, Barrister & Mann, Mike's Natural).

However, I just use a balm right after shaving and it isn't an issue. I am a big fan of shea butter (particularly in winter in the Northeast U.S.) and my product of choice is the Pre de Provence balm. If you like menthol, Soap Commander balms are great as well. I am not a menth-head, so I go with the PDP.

@Beardbgone for me, Catie's Bubbles is "neutral" in terms of face drying; my face doesn't feel as moisturized as it does after I use Mike's (lanolin, kokum butter, etc), but it doesn't feel overly dried out either.

I would agree with this assessment. Not moisturizing but not drying either.
