I wouldn't devalue your ability to take photographs and I would highly encourage you to post some of your pictures. I think you should really post some as you may surprise yourself with a hidden talent that you had never known you had. Personally, I would really like to see your pics! :happy088:

Besides looking good, it is a good handle, nice shape that feels good in the hand. It's an easy project. Highly recommended!

    Morning shave...

    '41 Senator Ranger
    new Big Ben blade
    VDH soap

The doors from the Senator have somehow thrown off the geometry of the Ranger's head, resulting in an unusually harsh shave for this razor. I can't see exactly why it should be different but it is. So on the off-chance it'd help, I cut down an old blade into a shim and loaded it under the Big Ben. Voila, made a great difference. DFS+. Now I can once again justify getting this fine machine replated.

    Don't shave angry.

Today’s Shave: DFS two pass shave. I really enjoyed the quality of Maggard’s soap today - smooth, thick, and slick. I need more practice adjusting the Fat Boy to get a little better experience. But, this was real nice combo all around.
    • Growth: 1+ day (one pass yesterday)
    • Prep: Shower; Corn Huskers Lotion
    • Lather: Maggard’s Chai Tea
    • Brush: Semogue Owner’s Club
    • Razor: 1960 Gillette Fat Boy
    • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    • Post: Alum; Proraso

It could be that the silo doors when together are slightly thinner, more blade in terms of width (not gap) is exposed. The Senator may also be flatter in the silo doors than the Renger Tech silo doors. This double effect could cause a much more aggressive shave.

    Cella
    Jayaruh WC3 Pure Badger
    Gillette Fat Handle Tech
    Personna Stainless
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    FD Old Spice AS

The Cella Shaving Cream face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC3 Pure Badger Brush. Two passes with my Gillette Fat Handle Tech and a Personna Stainless Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then FD Old Spice after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

You're correct, sir, there is visibly a bit more width exposed when shut, which explained the increased resonance of the blade. They do rest a bit flatter (necessitating my Dremeling down the centerbar) but eyeballing the end result, it looked negligible. It wasn't! But the shim has made it right again (or close enough).

A lot of people do not understand that the Ranger Tech carries on with the handle that was used in the Sheration / Senator series, but is completely different from the earlier models in terms of shave. The door width and head geometry, even if it did not change from comb to guard bar, would have been change enough, but the guard bar made it a trio of changes. The Ranger Tech head design carried forth into the Super Speed with a new handle. Those three classes of razors shave differently due to the mix of components, which for each changed geometry, exposure, and center of gravity (balance).
