    Saturday Morning Shave of Sickness

I've been sick all week and haven't shaved since Monday. So, I had a lot of scruff to scrape off. It called for a special preshave,

    Pre: Hot shower, noxzema.
    Razor: Gillette Fat Handle Tech
    Blade: Personna Lab
    Croap: Proraso White
    Post: NONE

A really nice shave. Very solid DFS. I chose to skip an aftershave as it may irritate my sinuses (more so than normal).

You are so tempting me to order another RV brush with that knot. I love my brush. I like big handles and RV hit this one out of the park.
The Kai Sharp has worked great this week. Very consistent in performance and feel throughout the week. However, I do not believe they would last as many shaves as the Feather Pro. Coupled with them being harder to get and more expensive, I'll most likely not settle on them as the go to blade for the Goose. The coming week, I use the Feather Pro Guard and finish up with the Feather Super Pro. I hope that doesn't end in a blood bath.

    image.jpg Razor: Gillette gold toggle (D1) 1958 (5) (3)
Brush: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Boar
Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
Soap: Pre de Provence Shea Butter soap
    Blade: Feather (1)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black balm, Old Spice Lime original Shulton AS Frosted Glass 1960

I have been trying to get this OS boar brush to work for me, since I'm an OS junkie, but I mostly use creams so my soft badgers work great and feel great on my face. I decided to use it on the PDP soap to help me with the lather. Worked great after soaking the PDP for a few minutes in hot water. The brush has softened up a lot and felt good on my face. Special days call for special razors, and to me the toggle is as special as it gets. I believe I'm the only one to have ever shaved with it and It is by far the best shaving razor I have ever used. Two no pressure passes WTG XTG on 5 and one ATG on my neck on 3 with only a slight touchup around the scar on the right side of my neck. Very close, very smooth, no burn shave. The PDP played a role, as it gives a great slick cushion, must be the Shea butter. Cucumber WH felt good, and after cleanup some JB gel, and Vintage OS Lime. Ahhhh!

Sound like its Hot Toddy time!
    INGREDIENTS
    • 2 tablespoons honey
    • 1 1/2 shots bourbon (or better yet, Apple Bourbon, in which case you'll use 1 tablespoon honey)
    • 3x1/2" strip of lemon peel
    • 1 cinnamon stick

    PREPARATION
Stir 2 tablespoons honey and 1 cup hot water in a 2-cup measuring cup until honey dissolves. Add 1 1/2 shots of bourbon (or better yet, Apple Bourbon, or any high proof adult beverage). Twist a 3x1/2" strip of lemon peel into the mug, or a squirt of limon juice. Stir with a cinnamon stick and serve.

Take 2 and call me in the morning.:eatdrink047:

Bet you brought that razor straight in, used a bunch of menthol soap and AS and froze your face off! :Animatedfrozensmily:

    Creative shot.

    Valentine Shave
My cheeks feel great, but my neck is irritated. My pattern lately has been superb weekday shaves, then rough on Saturday. Maybe I'm going too slow instead of too fast? Today the blade seemed tuggy on only its second use. Oh well, my neck will feel better soon.
I chose Givenchy Pi because my wife loves it and the vanilla note compliments Lavanille.
Today is also bittersweet as the tenth anniversary of my Dad's passing. It's not so painful anymore, but I miss him.
    Prep: warm shower
    Soap: B&M Lavanille
    Brush: HIS
    Razor: Der Vorschlaghammer
    Blade: Voskhod (2 and out!)
    AS: B&M Kyovu Bay Rum
    EdC: Givenchy Pi

I just keep rolling through my razor rotation. After working with the 65 Slim on my extensively inconclusive, confusing and enjoyable, but useless, "blade test". I decided to roll forward from the '65 Slim to the'70 BB. (After that it will be the '75 BB, then the '80 Black Handle. Then back to the beginning of "time".) I think I've decided I like the Sharp Edge blade. This was shave #4 and it was very smooth and close. I've got one more, so we'll see. I believe I've read here that different blades may perform differently with different razors. This is definitely the case here because I had used the SharpEdge with a non-adjustable razor and hated it.
And thus my confusion continues....:shocked029: Ignorance is bliss.

Today’s Shave: What a great shave! 3 pass DFS/BBS. I face lathered TOBS with the Plisson and it was a lather explosion! I never had that much lather from TOBS when trying to make lather in a bowl with it. The grapefruit scent is fantastic to boot. The heavy tech mowed down the 2 day stubble and got me BBS everywhere but on my tough chin area. Not complaining as the razor is a great shaver and I highly recommend it. Lather, brush, razor, and blade really came together. Have a great weekend everyone.
