I agree! It's way to dangerous to shave with. Please PM me and I will give you my address so you can send it to me for disposal.
I don't know razors nearly as well as some on here being new to this and all but I do get the concept here. Curious to hear your opinion of the shave. Congrats on a unique find!
I have run the patent number thru some search engines with no luck. I am hoping someone else has better luck.
To make things even worse I think I made a typo in the patent number... It appears to say: "Pat. No. A.629[I think '8']9" It could be; A.62989 A.62939 A.62959 But what makes it even tougher is that the razor comes from a seller in Argentina so it's quite possible it's a pat from south america. Maybe.
Soooo...had my first shave with this razor today. I loaded it up with a brand new Ladas blade and went to work. The blade exposure difference on the 'mild' and 'aggressive' sides did make me worry about if I was just about to slice up my purty face. I decided to start out...with the 'mild' side: ..and man, it felt very, very aggressive to the point that I was almost certain I was going to nick myself. I managed to complete a full WTG pass without shedding any blood. The roller guards were actually very interesting - you can feel them as they roll down your face. I am not sure if they helped with the shave a lot but the sensation was entertaining. After having completed the first pass I decided that I just had to try the other side of the razor; ..I shoved care and caution out of my mind and started slicing away. Surprise - this side was MUCH less aggressive than the one with almost no blade exposure. I guess blade exposure isn't everything when it comes to what makes a razor aggressive or not - how the blade is angled and protrudes from the head apparently plays an even more important role. The second pass, ATG, with this side was very pleasant. Heck, it was maybe even too mild End result: A really close shave with no nicks. I'll be using this razor exclusively this week so I'm hoping to learn a bit more about how to get the most out of it.
I love that innovative design! Glad it worked well. I hope you can identify it some day so I can begin searching for one for myself! I found the following patent that looks very similar to this design! Granted patent date: Feb 6, 1923. LINK
Apparently the idea is an old one! LINK and drawing granted 5 February 1929: Fascinating! I'd love to have an example of any of these to try!
