This is the coldest winter I can ever remember since I'm alive, but I won't give up my menthol treasures so here's what I'll be using tomorrow morning! Menthol Monday: Gatsby Ice Cooling Gel Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/new SuperMax Blue Synergy Frost_byte SS Anherb AS Conditioner Osage Rub AS Fahrenheit EdT Here's an ideal set-up which is perfect for any menthol freak who wants to go all-out and freeze his face off and enjoy himself. The Gatsby facial wash has a LOT of menthol in it, and it smells great, the Frost_byte soap has tons of rich, creamy, beautiful lather with a freezing sensation which is almost as strong as a Glacial soap, and the combination of the Anherb conditioner and the Rubby Dubby Doo can leave your face almost numb.
Monday's Nivea Men's Face Wash Col. Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap Jayaruh WC2 Synthetic Merkur 37c Heavy Duty Slant Personna Stainless CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Rose Petal WH Barbasol AS The Col. Conk Bay Rum Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC2 Synthetic Brush. Two passes with my Merkur 37c Heavy Duty Slant and a Personna Stainless Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Barfbasol after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
How's that "regular hammer" doin? I know you've got experience with it. Was curious of your impressions while I still get up the nerve.
The "regular hammer" is an efficient shaver. When I bought it, there was a significant price difference between it and the sledge hammer. Being marginally cheap, I went for the regular hammer. It is nothing to be afraid of though. It is just a little different. You can cut yourself with any razor and this is no different, except you should never try the "Gillette Slide" with it. As I have said in other threads, the 34c and 39c have the same heads, just different handles. The sledge hammer is also heftier. I wouldn't mind trying one some day, but I am happy with the look and feel of the 34c. Pick one and go for it. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

Jim, that 37C is a sweet razor - a really great shaver! I always enjoy reading your posts. It is easy to see that you are having fun!
Thanks Jim. Ouch, just thinking of the Gillette Slide with a slant hurts. We'll see where my RAD takes me next.

Evening shave for Tomorrow My first shave with a newly-honed razor: a KROPP (1899-1923 by Osborne, Garrett & Co) "Ground in Hamburg; Made in England."—'every man's razors' that were imported by a number of American businesses whose names & addresses were stamped on the blade ("J. B. Crook & Co., NY" here). Very smooth shaver, by the way. I don't own many round point razors and this one was a joy to use. Have great Monday, all!

Monday's Shave Prep: Hot shower w/ Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap: Arko Brush: Omega 13522 Razor: '46-'50 Gillette Heavy Gold Tech Blade: store brand Israeli Personna Post: Witch Hazel, Nivea Sensitive Balm Scent: Pinaud Clubman After a busy, brutally cold weekend with no shaves, I had a bit of beard to deal with. The Tech and Israeli Personna had little trouble slicing through, did have a few weepers though, which I attribute to the extra growth. Used some extra water in the Arko today and it seemed slicker but still nice and thick. Overall, a 3 pass DFS with minimal touch ups today.
