I have gotten so into this DE stuff in such a short amount of time, that I had to design my own. My target was a perfect 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 for aggressiveness. I printed one on my home printer, and it works really well.
That's what I call jumping into the hobby with a splash. Did you model it off of a particular razor and adjust, or go completely from scratch?
That's slicker than snot on a doorknob! I never thought about using a 3D printer to make your own razor. Think of the possibilities on design ideas.
That's incredible, good job! You could make replicas of the more popular razors and sell them as demos so that people could test them out before committing to the real thing.
Wow! That's amazing! Love your idea! Also like your target for aggressiveness. How hard would that be to change? Before my Slim adjustable hit the floor, I was settling in on the 4 setting.
I just altered the bottom profile to sleeken it up, look more like some classic designs, and to use less material. Also, here are some views of the blade gap and angle from the 3D model:
That is most excellent. With 3D printers and scanners becoming rather affordable these days I expect to see a LOT more along these lines - including "bringing back" old, vintage gear. You could scan a Barbasol floating head and print for a fraction of what one would cost you on ebay (sure, not the same material, feel, weight, etc - but what you'd get is a new/modern reincarnation of a classic model) There's a great line of Replicators (different sizes) by MakerBot that sell for about $1300
Super cool. My wife and I just saw a MakerBot at Home Depot this weekend. It's truly the wave of the future.
