Nice! One for a close shave, and the other to keep you out of them:eatdrink047:

Had a pretty fantastic shave this morning. I am pretty shocked on how smooth my face is today!

Prep: Let coconut oil sit on my beard for 5 mins, hot shower and rinse oil off.
    Razor: Merkur 34C
    Brush: Omega 13109 Pure Badger
Blade: Big Ben Super Stainless (1)
Soap: The Copper Hat Shaved Ice
Post: Cold water rinse, Alum block, Thayers WH Original
    A/S: Nivea Sensitive Aftershave Balm

I don't know what caused this amazing shave today. Either I improved my angle and technique or sticking to one soap helped.

And here I thought I needed a more aggressive razor. I guess you can get a pretty good shave with any type of razor in the end! :D

    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower, Bulldog Original face wash, Sandalwood bar soap

Soap/cream- Colonel Conk Bay rum shaving soap

    Brush- Whipped dog 24mm silvertip

    Razor- Merkur 37c

    Blade- Astra SP(2)

Post- Cold water rinse, Lucky tiger Bay Rum aftershave lotion and Nivea sensitive aftershave balm

First I wanna say I really like the Bay rum scent of this soap. Sweet and very very nice! I'm easily impressed with scents, I think I will like just about anything I will lay my hands on. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the soap aswell, slick and protective. It's a good soap I will tell you =)

3 pass shave. 1 pass WTG and 3 passes XTG very carefully.

Astra SP's has been my Go2 blade for a long time, recently I have noticed that they might be a little dull for me. Not dull, but I have noticed I need a little sharper blade, especially on my chin. They tugg a little. I still get great shaves with them, but I'm definitely gonna try and find 1-3 new Go2 blades before I run out of Astras. I have 2 nominees already, LADAS and Personnas.

I have many blades to try and I will find new ones. Hopefully they will not be much more expensive than Astra SP's =P

I had to reload the brush, my fault, didn't load enough to start with.

Well, this shave was just a hoot! First time I have shaved with a straight razor on a handle. I like the concept of the whole kit being self contained. The strop, the hone stone and not ever having to buy a blade for it...lol.

    Friday's shaving plans:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/SuperMax Blue day 5
Proraso Green SS :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Gold Bond Moisturizer :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Proraso Green AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Fahrenheit EdT

This should be a nice and chilly shave because I believe I selected a good set-up. The Neutrogena facial wash is plenty cooling, the Proraso Green soap always gives me good, rich, and stable lather with its world-renowned menthol punch, and the Gold Bond moisturizer keeps that freeze going very well. The Proraso Green aftershave is a terrific way to finish off - it puts those extra icicles in a man's kisser. Let's hope I get another BBS result again! ;) :D

The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh WC2 Synthetic Brush. I have another one that is from 1949. Some of them can get an edge on them. Between my Auto Strops and the Rolls Razor's they make up a large part of my collection. At least we get to shave with our collections. ;)

    RAZOR: 1907 Single Ring (silver)
    BLADE: Astra SP
BRUSH: Strong Set (restored with a WD black badger knot)
    SOAP: Maggard Limes & Bergamot
    AS: Barbasol Pacific Rush

Tomorrow morning is one of my most anticipated shaves. The Single Ring is a razor I've wanted for quite a while. Why? I'm not sure, it was on my RAD list? :D

I found this beautiful 1907 (serial #895735) on Etsy for $20 (+shipping). It was pretty dark and tarnished as you can see. But, it was sound and, best of all, no crack. :happy088: After subjecting it to the "aluminum foil-baking soda-boiling water" cleaning method, 99% of the tarnish just disappeared. A tiny bit of Maguiar's All-Metal polish (recommended by Cap'n Murphy) and she's back to near "showroom" condition (well, almost). The "after" pic does not truly show how shiny and silver this razor is. It gleams almost like chrome.

    Before - After.JPG

So, here's my SOTD picture. The background photo is the closest thing to 1907 I could come up with. The photo itself is a 1910 panoramic view of downtown Youngstown, Ohio (where I live, by the way). The actual picture is 5 feet long by 1 foot high. This view down the Market Street Bridge leads right down to the central square. Youngstown was almost the center of the steel-making universe back in those days and although you can't see them here there are rows of steel mills belching smoke, steam locomotives and many homes all clustered together on either side of the bridge. This was the best I could do with a nostalgic razor like this.
