When I first opened the jar, the first thing that came to mind was Synergy Chocolate Bourbon but I haven't used that soap in four months and no longer have this one in my den, but I thought of heavy aroma of dark chocolate with booze tossed in but then I picked more of Leatheriest/vanilla aroma with just a touch of Lavender. I am using a bar of soap right now from Tiki Soaps that is Oak Moss and I kind of got that scent but wasn't sure. I went out to the web to see what was in Lavanille ( I had assumed Lavender & Vanilla) but I also saw they used cedar wood, and something called Exaltolide which they state is a musk which I assume these two are what is bringing out the Oak Moss aroma to my nose. All combined they bring out the sweet leather aroma. At first I didn't care for it, but once I lathered up the aroma started to blend and mellow out some and now I like it. Definitely not a soap that is leaning towards the Lavender scent like say a Lavender/Rosemary scented soap. I can see why a lot of people like this one and I purchased upon a recommendation from someone on this forum and glad I did.

Second day of my week dedicated to the "Mystery from Argentina". Another good shave. The side with more expressed blade exposure continues to be the 'mild' one for me and gives me the most comfortable shave. 24 Feb 2015 Pre - Corn Huskers Soap - RR XXX Brush - 1st and 2nd Generation Plisson Synthetic Razor - 66 Slim Adj (8,6,4) Blade - Voskhod (3) AS - Aqua Velva Passable shave but not comfortable, a weeper was had on 2 of the 3 passes and some barking with Alum block. Appears the Voskhod is good for 2 shave in the adjustable for me. Also used 2 brushes to compare the older and new versions of the Plisson Synthetic (my thoughts on them are HERE).
Strange, I searched eBay and Amazon for "razor with roller guards" and came to with nothing. LOL. It's a very cool looking razor!
How is the scent of the QC Basilica? I love strong mirrh and wanted to try some of their soaps through the samplers.
Tyr's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash Brush: Beeline Boar Soap: Godrej Lemon/Lime Fresh cream Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (3) Passes: WTG, XTG (7, 8) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Pinaud Clubman AS splash Cologne: Velvet Mood I skipped the balm today; there was a small but noticeable difference in glide, possibly as a result. While I could attribute some of this to using my cheapy boar, the Godrej is easily the poorest lather of the soaps and creams I use with any regularity, as there's a very fine line between 'sufficiently whipped' and 'about to collapse upon application.' This combination of factors had me stopping at 2 passes, with DFS results and no injury.
Thanks, Mark! You could probably find one in the Chinatown area in your city. They are fairly common. Too bad I only use them as props for my photos as I face-lather, exclusively!
