Hi fellow shavers. I am a 41 year old shaving newbie from the northern Sweden, Piteå. My story started in the beginning of December -14 when I after 25 years of painfull shaving decided to look for alternatives to the multiple blade cartridges and caned foams. My first thought was to go for a high end electric razor but due to lack of money and the fact that my father was the owner of two vintage DE razors made the choice easy. I went for the DE razors and bought a pack of Wilkinson Sword to try them out, still with caned foam. My first shave was a blend of fear and pleasure but when the shave was completed and the results was better than ever my path for future shaves was set, DE shaving is the best. I have now a couple months of shaving behind me, shaves of different qualities and pleasures. At this moment I have tried both of the vintage razors given to me by my father, one Matador De Lux and one Swing, both Swedish razors. I found by browsing the net that both razors was considered quite aggressive, I therefore ordered a EJ 89 which increased the quality of my shaves tremendously. I use Semouge OC boar cherry with Cella, MWF and Arko. I'm also working my way through a sample pack of blade from Connaught Shaving. The first months of shaving did caused some irritation at the lower part of my neck which always has been very sensitive. I did then read about Cold water shaving and gave it a try, WHAT a revolution. CWS has completely eliminated the post shave irritation and makes my shaves even closer. On this forum I hope to find information about products and the opportunity to discuss shaving. Yours, PM
Welcome from the state of Minnesota, home of many descendents of Scandinavians. I used a preshave of one part baby oil and two parts castor oil. The makes a face very slippery, so it was less pressure to master technique when I started.
A warm welcome to you from North Texas. You might want to take a look at some of the references contained in my signature line below for discussions of the 30 Day systems and more on hardware. With that being said ... Welcome to the Den. We know you'll fit right in. So grab yourself a comfy chair, and give our threads a spin! Burma Shave
