26 Feb 2015 Pre- Corn Huskers Soap - RR XXX Brush - WD Synthetic Razor - 66 Slim Adj (8,6,3) Blade - Astra SP (2) AS - Pinaud Clubman Well do to sloppy technique/lapse of brains on my neck I experience my first nick. Got bleeding stopped with styptic pencil, which hurt more than the nick, but did stop blood flow. Other than that, a very good close shave.
Thursday 26th February Warm shower Hot towel Mike's Barbershop scuttle lathered Finest Badger brush made by myself Gillette Super Adjustable short handle (S2 1972) on 5/6 Gillette Platinum Vintage 1976 (1) Cold rinse Thayers Superhazel Aqua Velva Musk aftershave A shave with a 1970's theme (razor and blade). I started off with the razor on 5 and opened it up to 6 for the rest of the shave a setting which suits me better. The vintage blade smooth and sharp. I can see what the love of these old blades is all about now. One blade I will use sparingly !
26 Feb Everything stayed the same as yesterday except I changed the blade to a shark which I didn't like it felt to aggressive for my neck

Even though I received my Lavender MDC yesterday, I decided to stick with improved PDP this morning and will use the MDC in the next few days. Only 2 passes this morning, but it turned out a a very nice DFS ( @Herm2502 - Did you notice how today I actually put in the number? ) improved PDP Rapira Swedish slim adjustable Sorry, I missed the "3" key. 3 passes.
Hahahaha! I will keep you in mind. However, this just might be the principal 'Star' of my handles for my photographs and it might be very difficult to let it go as Rafael doesn't make this model any longer. It has become a sort of rare handle.

Shave of the day Pre- Hot shower, Bulldog Original face wash, Sandalwood bar soap Soap/cream- Colonel Conk Bay rum shaving soap Brush- Whipped dog 24mm silvertip Razor- Merkur 37c Blade- Astra SP(2) Post- Cold water rinse, Aqua Velva Ice blue aftershave lotion and Nivea sensitive aftershave balm Just an okey shave today. It has been a while since my last so I felt a little rusty =P The Colonel Conk is an Okey shave, it has okey slickness, better than I thought and really nice bay rum scent. But I'm gonna go over to the next thing to try All in all, it's a mediocre soap I think. I need to tune it in a little more, I think it's one of those soaps you need to get to know a little better to get good results with it =) Aqua Velva is really nice! For every time I use Astras I get a little more reason to believe that they are not good for me.
From what I can tell from his website, Rafael isn't making any handles anymore, at least not for general sale.
Thor's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm Brush: Simpson 56 Best Badger Soap: Stirling Bay Rum Razor: Merkur 41c 1904 OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (1) Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (1, 2, 3) Post: Cold water splash, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's WH, Captain's Choice Cat o' Nine Tails AS splash Cologne: Gigember Estragone by Dr. Vranjes As is becoming the rule, I needed half again as many swirls on the puck of the Stirling in order to get the quality and consistency of lather approximately where I'd like it; I tend to doubt this will be on my reorder list. The new Bic blade was smooth as silk, with the alum only revealing one 'hot-spot' along the scar on my neck after three easy passes. I'd call today's results nearly BBS, all things considered, which is a fair trade-off for no bloodshed as a result of skipping the ATG pass. The Cat o' Nine Tails only provided a little of its famous burn today.
I think the only Open Comb razors that Parker makes are the Parker 26C - Black Handle or 24C - Chrome handle Three Piece Double Edge Safety Razors. These go for about $29 bucks on Amazon.com. The 26C is similar to the Cadet 26C Open Comb which is a few dollars cheaper so, you might look into the Cadet Open Combs as well. I will say the chrome finish on the Parkers are exceptional quality for the price of their razors. At any rate check out this link: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDE9CZO/?tag=thshde-20 Hope that helps.
SOTD Feb 26th Prep: shower, proraso green pre-shave Brush: Plisson Blade: Dovo best quality 5/8 Soap: tiki Redwood (tallow) Post: home-mix bay rum and a little Vaseline I've been working on my honing skills, and this was the first day that I got close to properly shave ready. It's been a while since It's been that sharp, definitely a nice feeling.
Still using "The Sidewinder" for the rest of this week. It's a fun razor that gives a very decent shave. Not as efficient/clean shave as some of my other razors but still not bad at all. And, it makes up for it by its looks and face-feel from those roller guards Razor: "Sidewinder" Blade: Ladas Brush: SOC Boar Soap: Arko (in old vintage stick container) A/S: Provence Sante

Prep - Hot shower Brush - the shave factory ____ soap: TSD barber shoppe Razor: VDH Blade: Astra Didn't have very good luck with the soap today, I think I added too much water. Did my standard two pass WTG shave. Decent results, still need more work on my technique. I think a stiffer brush would help as well.
Yes, he has had quite a few incidents that have slowed and hindered his production. I am hopeful that he will continue.
Razor: Gillette Goodwill #164 1931 (slotted center hole) with original case and blade pack Brush: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Boar Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue Cream: Castle Forbes cedarwood & sandalwood cream Blade: Feather (1) Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black balm, Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum Loaded a new Feather and checked the alignment. It looks strange with the studs showing through the top cap, but the Feather was aligned perfectly. I actually unscrewed the head and repeated the process and it loaded the same. From the side it looks a lot like my Gillette Old Type Open Comb Ball End, which had me worried, as the Old is rough for me so I will tread softly. I whipped up the Castle, nice woodsy scent, with the big OS Boar, in my favorite mug. First pass WTG going slow and very nice glide with no pressure with this light razor. Very nice, nothing like the Old, more like my Tech, which is closed comb. Second pass XTG on my face and then ATG on my neck. The Castle was nice and slick and helped get a great shave. A little touchup on my neck, and done. Great razor! Very smooth compared to the Old. The WH felt good and then some JB. After cleanup some Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum. Have a good one.
