"Jeff my darling, it's going to be -22C tomorrow morning. How can you use so much menthol? Are you crazy?" I guarantee that's exactly what my wife will say when she sees what I'm choosing for my shave. Hey, I'm a menthol maniac and proud to be one so this is why I go with such a cold set-up. That Glacial Lavender soap is from the coldest of the coldest menthol families, and I think it's become my favourite soap. I'll get lots of additional chill from the Gold Bond moisturizer and the Rubby Dubby Doo. I'm expecting another super-duper BBS shave! ;) :D

I wish everyone a terrific weekend in advance! :)

Thanks! Be careful of the ship on the brush. On the one I actually use the ship has worn almost off, but has gotten much softer. They come up at a reasonable price on the bay sometimes. I paid $6 plus shipping for the one in the picture.

Jeff, Sure you've got enough menthol? Doesn't seem like enough "frozen smileys".

The shot of Vodka was after the shave? We must always shave responsibly

    :bounce017:First Birth-year Razor SOTD 2-26-15!!! :bounce017:

Finally got to use my birth year 1957 (C1) Red Tip Super Speed!:happy093:

Razor 1957 Red Tip Super Speed (or did I say that?)

    Blade Rapira Platinum Lux

    Brush
    Semogue 1320

    Soap
    Maggard Limes & Bergamot
After Shave Barbasol Pacific Rush:smiley freezing:

I've been looking for some time and have getting more and more jealous of the nice Red Tips I've been seeing in the professional pics on SOTD. I've never liked the shave I've received from a Super Speed. I've owned several (3-4?) 1957 Super Speeds (sold 'em all) , I still own a '58 TV Special (because it's near mint and cost $2) and an '80 black handle (not sure why :think002:). Each shave with these has been so-so at best, just passable and definitely not comfortable. So, even though I was happy to have a birth-year red tip, I was still apprehensive. As I started I realized it wasn't all that aggressive. I did notice that the handle seemed to amplify the feedback sound so that was nice to hear my "progress". I could easily feel the blade against my skin so it was easy to get the right angle (or maybe I'm finally getting the hang of this DE stuff?).

Result was a nice shave. Definitely not BBS and probably not DFS. It was passable and presentable. But, most of all it was reasonably comfortable; not like the other SS shaves I've had. I've got more work to do here (plus I want to touch up the paint), but I think this one is a keeper. :happy088:

So was it Jostalli Vodka? Has a nice ring to it. I'll drink to that :eatdrink047:

Well I have never heard that combination before - I wonder if my church would mind if I went into a new line of business?

02/26: I put the Frozen Tundra sample in a glass dollar store bowl and the extra room to load the brush - when compared to the Stirling tins - made a huge difference. I worked the WD brush for about 20 seconds after letting the puck soak for about a minute then took it to the face. Tons of great lather! Gotta go get some more of those bowls.

Final coolness rankings for the week:

    1. Stirling MITA

    Preshave: Hot towel, Noxema
Equipment: Edwin Jagger DE89 loaded with a new Astra Superior Platinum Blade
Soap: RazoRock/Italian Barber Tobacco #2. I also have RazoRock/Italian Barber Tobacco #1 and this is a deal they have going on right now to narrow down their best tobacco scent. There are more posts on these soaps in the deals section.
Post: Noxema, Cold water rinse, RazoRock alum block stick, cold water rinse, 4711 aftershave.

Gentlemen, one of the best shaves I ever had and maybe the best. I don't know if I've ever came out of a shave this b.b.s. and free of any irritation. The tobacco #2 has a lighter tobacco scent, but still full on tobacco vs. #1, which I feel has a heavier bolder tobacco scent. Coupling this with a brand new blade and the 4711 aftershave and I do believe it's a great combination. I sort of feel weird saying this, but I can't stop touching my face.

Face lathering might just be the secret for me. Its the only thing I've done different since limiting myself to one pass.

    FRIDAY
    Evening Shave for Tomorrow
This is actually my second shave today  as I had a very early DE shave this morning.
However, I am a creature of habit and would miss my usual evening routine if I chose not to shave this evening.
Why deprive myself of the joy of a refreshing evening shave? :rolleyes005:
C-Mon & MWF were selected for tonight's routine and the results were very satisfying.

Have a blessed Friday, everyone! February is almost done!
